About Myself:

Accountant, 55, aspiring writer. Married 2 children, 2 cats (not married to the cats but they think they rule the roost). See gallery for more pictures - George was starting to demand appearance money so I relegated him to the background.......teach him to be sassy!

Ok, so we're pals again.........Hey George, see the nice reader? Kill !!!!!!

Started writing in July 2007 and found that I couldn't stop. Manuscripts now comprise 3 finished novels (60,000; 85,000; 65,000 words respectively) one in progress (currently 20,000), 2 compilations of short stories (total 100,000 words), and some messing around with poetry, although I must confess that it's not my favourite.

That started as limericks on birthday and anniversary cards and now I can't get off the hook.

If anyone knows of a cure............I may be interested (although not JUST yet).

First manuscript is now a finished and published novel "A Ticket to Tewkesbury" (see stories list for a preview and list of acknowledgements).

It cannot be easy for you doing this, and you are geting better with each submission.

Even for a native English speaker, the nuances of the language are sometimes quite daunting, so it's hats off to you.

Fables
Inmpressively put together fable very much in the style of Aesop.

"Familiarity Breeds Contempt" and the story brought this saying right to the front as the friendships between the three main payers developed and changed.

The metaphor of using the dog for the poor down trodden tramp-like perosn was very good, as was the bear for the upright, strong one who had learned to evolve from his humble beginnings.

Initial thoughts on the over use of "dog" and "bear" vanished as I realised that the whole structure of the story was built around it.

Very good.

Improving
Your writing is coming on in leaps and bounds Seb. This is a really creepy one and the tension's there right at the start.

I take my hat off to you, writing in a language which is not your own - I wouldn't know where to start.

Push on with the next part, folks seem to like your style.

Assumption
Assuming that he was responsible for the deaths of both of them, this was a good piece and interwoven with the two "established" ghosts, it gave the story a unique perspective.

I thought you could have made the ending a litle clearer though, and perhaps it finished too soon.

Nevertheless I liked it.

Aside from the errors (above) this was a very good portrayal of the kind of disaster which has become quite common. I liked the style.

We had one in Britain some years ago in a Scottish town called Dunblane. An infant school was the target and many died.

It's different from you earlier work.

Good starting chapter Amanda, and the child's innocence could explode with the plot as the guy takes control.

I liked the use of Spanish (I know a little) and your technique of "almost" translating it. Were you a teacher?

Really good story on the 'Oedipus Rex' theme.

I thought you handled the ploy extremely well, and I was willing for the bopy to put them both away.

Just goes to show that you shouldm never mess with kids.

Mixed Up
Like Harmattan, I opened this one up not quite knowing what to expect.

You didn't disappoint. This is a good tale of one hell of a mixed up family.

No crudity though, and the whole thing was painted with an enormous amount of subtlety when you bear in mind the hard, dark subject that you addressed.

Had Potter grumbling at me for speed writing, but when the ideas are there, it's a shame to waste them. Thought one up last week just as I was dropping off to sleep, and for the life of me I can't remember what it was now. Must keep pen and pad by the bedside in future.
