The three Core planets, Alpha, Beta, and Omega, were the pinnacle of human achievment. The four years since mankinds arrival in the system had been eventful to say the least. The Human species as a whole had a population of around three billion, much less than had left Earth. This was partly due to several million people not making the trip, but mostly, it was due to The Cull. The Cull took place in the first six months of Mankinds inhabitation. Anyone who was carrying an incurable disease, or was considered insane, had been killed by gas. The Planetary Parliament ran a Nazi like regime. Those who managed to escape The Cull headed to the Outer Planets, where it was thought they could make their own life. The Parliament were only concerned with the Core, and those planets closest to them, which meant that the fifty million or so escapees could rest easy in the knowledge that they were unlikely to be worried by The Parliament, as long as they kept themselves to themselves. Planet Alpha was home to all Government, Parliamentary, and Military buildings, aside from the several smaller military bases to be found dotted around the Inner, and Middle planets. These buildings were designed by men and women considered by The Planetary Parliament to be at the top of their respective fields, be it architecture, interior design, or plumbing. These are the buildings that would go down in history, that future civilisations would marvel over. Planet Beta was home to the rich, and would be famous. Grand estates and country clubs occupied this very elite planet and it's three moons. Planet Omega was considered to be the home of progression. Labs of all kinds where men, women, and children alike, 'volunteered' to be part of genetic experiments, all for the betterment of humanity. It is said that anyone who volunteers for such experiments are entitled to immunity from pretty much anything for life, however in truth, no one saw or heard from them again. Families were torn apart because of The Cull. Those who did not have the means to escape were taken from their loved ones, with no remorse shown by those carrying out The Cull. Those first six months would always be remembered, and because of those six months, freedom fighters would always exist, fighting against the totalitarian regime in place.
