She always looked stunning. The "new girl" everyone called her. Even though she had been at our school for six months. I guess it had to do with the fact she was quiet. All she ever did was sit in the Library and read.

She always dressed in black. It clashed perfectly with her red hair which hung down to the mid of her back. She had those ice blue eyes, the ones that you swear can see right through your lies.

That beautiful girl... Those eyes haunt my dreams. The fact that she is dead through my actions, or more accurately, dead through my inaction. It's all because I'm the geeky guy with glasses who plays round with computers. The geeky guy who listens to music with actual feel unlike all the jocks who listen to that rap crap.

It all started when she arrived. Guys whistled as she walked down the locker corridor. Girls whispered things under their breathe making comments about the wayshe walked, the way she dressed, the colour of her hair, whether it was natural or not.

At the time, I was busy being shoved into my locker by one of the school's most common vermin: jocks.
"How do you like that, computer man" they sneered. My feet were poking out of the locker and they were trying to shut the door. Needless to say, it hurt like hell.

"And what may I ask are you doing?" a shocked vocie asked.
The jocks turned around, hiding me from view.
"Just packing a computer in its box" one replied.
"Is that so?" The reply gave me shivers down my spine.

I saw my chance while they were distracted by whomever it was; I kicked the leader in the back. He fell face first onto the floor. Everyone started laughing. I now had a view of my saviour.

It was the first time I had laid eyes on her.

"T-thanks" I stammered. I was going reder than the colour of blood. She saw this and laughed.
"No problem" she said.

Suddenly, the lead lead jock sprang up and grabbed me by the throat.
"Think you're funny do you?" he snarled. "I'll show you funny!"
He started squeezing my throat and forcing the rest of my body into the locker.

"Stop it. NOW!" She yelled.
The leader stopped.
"Lucky, very lucky you little brat. Seems the new girl has a crush on you" he said, releasing me and letting me out of myv locker.
"I'd rather go out with him than you any time" she retored. Everyone laughed as the pack of jocks stormed off.

"Thanks again" I said more confidently this time.
"I see you've regained control of your voice" she said grinning. "Do you know where locker four-five-one is?"
"Yes." Of course I knew that. It was one the one that I had been shoved in for four hours last year.

I led the way down the corridor. Four-five-one was right at the very end, next to the head master's office. It was one of the newer style ones, brown and wooden.

"Here" I announced, slapping the locker on the side.
"Thanks" was the reply. "You're a really nice guy."
I turned redder than ever before. Talk about hot under the collar!
"T-thanks" I stammed. "You're not too bad yourself."
She laughed. "I'll see you arond then?"
"Yeah. See you later." I turned and walked off.

Over the next few weeks, we talked a bit about school, family, and all the general stuff that we either hated or loved. It was like talking to a near mirror image. We both were rather quiteand read a lot, we both mucked about on the computer whenever we could and we both enjoyed decent music.

Most of our time was spent in the library reading books in silence execpt for the constant turning of pages. We read stuff like Lore of the Rings, Seven Ancient Wonders and absolutely loved reading Manga, the right-to-left Japanese comics.

We went on like this for months, laughing, reading and mucking up the school's computers at least twice a week. I started falling more and more for her. She was the best (and the first) girl who I had actually liked. I kept quite about it though. I didn't want her to find out in case she didn't feel the same way.

One day, the day I have relived the best and the worst of it for years, she asked me the one question I will never forget.
"Do you want to go out with me?" It was out of nowhere. My heart literally jumped into my mouth.

"Are you serious?" I said looking into those ice blue eyes. I saw something in those eyes I had never seen before. Love.
She nodded her head.
"Yes." The answer came out with ease. I knew it was the right one.

She burst into that smile that I had rarely seen. It would be the last time I would ever see it in real life.
"I know how you feel about me" she said. "And I feel the same way."

I just stared at her. Before I knew what I was doing, I leaned over the table and kissed her. Long and soft.

We broke apart as the bell went. She was redder than me which I never thought would be possible.
"Could you walk me home?" She asked in a naughty tone.
"Why not?" I grinned and we set off.

She lived just across form the school. She didn't really need walking home, but we both wanted to spendas much time as possible with each other.

"Ladies first" I bowed as we arrived at the crossing. She kissed me on the brow and started to cross the road. I looked up just to see a car srceaming around the corner.

I was about to yell "Watch out!" as the car slammed into her. My mouth dropped as she folded in half on impact. I flinched at the sound of hundreds of bones breaking.

The car stopped after fifty metres. All the way, blood was starting to seep into the asphat road. I ran the fastest fifty metres of my life towards the car, praying she would be okay. I got there and all my hopes were completely dashed as I saw the mangled body of the one I loved. Her eyes, those ice blue eyes, staring forever into the afternoon.
