He loved Greta Garbo.
He'd seen all her movies
At the old cinema
Or on late night TV.

He'd read all the written
Books he could find on her.
Had photographs of her
All over his small house,

Some framed, hanging on walls,
Some on the mantelpiece,
On cupboards, on book shelves,
On his bedside table;

Her beauty looking out
At him all day and night
Especially while he
Slept in bed with his wife.

He even dreamed of her,
Dreamt he had made a film
With her, which no one saw.
Dreamt he had walked with her,

Talked with her; held her hand.
Dreamt he had slept with her
(Sleeping being the one
Operative word of all.)

Just to be close to her,
To smell her, feel her near,
Touch her tingling skin.
But not commit the sin

In his dreams or real life,
That little men like him
Never copulated
With gorgeous goddesses

Like Monroe or Garbo,
But made love with their wives.

I think we all close are eyes at times and think of being some place we shoudn't. This guy seems a bit absessive however, but thought the poem was good.

Garson

Mee too, and the one standing head and shoulderfs above the rest as far as I'm concerned was Greer Garson, esp opposite Robert Donat in "Goodbye Mr Chips".

She was a stunner.

Oh, sorry Terry, the poems was very good too, I liked it a lot. Got a little lost there, but blame Potter for that.

Ghosts on the silver screen

I felt you'd found my diaries and sang them all out loud.

There is something about Garbo, who retired before I even knew her name. I sought out the books and chased the movies till I'd seen them all. But I did that with a dozen others too, (including Greer G.)

But I did think that little men like this made love to the idol while copulating with the wife!

But I sit in awesome wonder once again Mr. Collett.

I appreciate your works.

Kind regards

Harmattan

....

I was expecting that he wanted to kill Greta Garbo. But I guess I was wrong.

A very well told story, I know that everybody has dreams and wonders about things that are either impossible or wrong.

I think that is why beautiful celebrities have so many admirers, they are the unreachable fantasy that is 'safe' in a way, when you never get to meet them and realise theyre just people, (unless your a stalker). Good tale Terry

....

I would call this fact-based poetry.

Good poem, Sir. Great theme and I'm assuming many people will feel the same way about it as I do, that it touches a raw, yet secret nerve in almost every man's heart.

Nice poetry, clear and direct, as always.
