The house was clean today, thanks to Katherine. She knew she had to clean it up soon or else her mother would walk throught the front door to a not-so-beautiful home. She did not want that to happen. On the other hand, it would be pretty funny to see what her mother did when she saw everything thrown around. Katherine could see it, her mother's gasp, her eyes widening...but that was not good enough to leave the house a mess. Katherine sighed as her fantsy slipped through her fingers and was lost, she would never have it back.
Nancy listened to her advisors drone on and on about taxes and budgets and charts and graphs. She was zoned out within the first three minutes. It was too easy. And then, he walked in. He was gorgeous and tall with dark hair and bright blue eyes. Nancy all of a sudden wished she had put on some makeup, and her blue pinstripe suit was definitely not her best. But he was perfect in his black suit and blue shirt, and his smile made her heart stop. She knew instantly that she could not be trusted with charts and numbers with him around. Luckily, as he walked in the meeting came to a close and she was able to escape. Unfortunately, so was he. He came up and started talking to her, and she could barely speak, she was like a little girl on the playground, lovestruck. She was unable to breathe and her legs were wobbling. He was asking her to dinner, tonight. Why tonight? Less than 24 hours notice? What was the catch? "Yeah, so I was thinking I'd pick you up at 8 if thats okay?" He asked. Nancy could do nothing but nod. His broad smile stretched across his face. He was happy he was able to take her out? That was extremely flattering. So she would be in her hotel room at 8 ready to go to dinner. Then it hit her. "Hey, what's your name? I haven't seen you around," He smiled. "Of course, I have forgotten to introduce myself. My name is Michael, Michael Lee." He said. "I'll see you at 8, Nancy." And just like that, he was gone. She couldn't get herself to move forward, she was still in shock. But when she was able to breathe again, she sprinted down the hallway and too the fourth floor, to her hotel room. She only had 4 hours to get ready. She had nothing to wear. She had brought no makeup for going out. This was going to be horrible. She threw on an outfit and smacked her face with a big powderpuff and slipped into her shoes just in time. There was a knock on the door. Michael. This was going to be perfect. She couldnt wait.
Ugh, her mother came home today. Why couldn't she stay longer like she always did? What did she do wrong to deserve this? She was in her room when she heard Nancy's heels hit the floor, she went to greet her, but the sound of a second pair of foot steps and a male voice stopped her, frozen in fear. What was this? Did her mother have a friend she was letting crash here? No, she was much to old for the whole 'crash on the couch' thing. She had to figure it out, but she couldn't get her feet to go down the stairs. She was still frozen. Her mother's piercing voice calling her thawed her quickly, though. "Katherine, would you come down here for a minute? I have someone I want you to meet." No, no, no, no NO! What was happening? She must be dreaming. There was a boyfriend in her house now. She was not happy at all. This was not good. Copyright 2008 Chelsea DeCarlo |
