We are two nucleotides

connected by the proteins of love

to from our own special DNA.

Never ending, never

breaking.

You can see love in

every person creating the same

sequence

between two people.

But each nucleic acid is

different.

Each can be broken

by some decision or action that

could change the genetic code

forever.

You ended up as a mutagen

a nucleotide different from all of the rest.

Damaging our DNA to form

a mutation of anger and hatred.

We can't go back to have

the same structure again.

We can't from our genetic code.

You broke away and

now our DNA is mutated, forming

The incurable cancer

To attack every happy thing in its path,

my path

Re-read

Had to read this several times before the message got home to me.

Fascinating depiction of the human relationship portrayed as a mutating DNA string.

No-one stays the same after two individuals come together, even if they do split up in the end.

Nice work.

Phil

(Think I'm finally getting in to this poetry lark)

Wonderful job! I liked the way you intertwined science with emotion. You did it very intelligently and used the scientific aspects correctly. This is a very unique piece. Into my favorites it goes =]

mutating Love

Describing the breakdown of an affair like the destruction of molecules.

Clever. A little bit contrived, but novel.

Life is full of novelty, but sometimes these pages are not.

Thanks for bringing some.

Kind regards

Liked the biology...

Hannah,

I'm starting to suspect that many of us writers have been spurned by a lover at one time or another. Unfortunately for you and fortunately for us, it makes for a powerful finished product. My suggestion to you? Kick the mongrel to the curb and move on. Good writing.

Evolving

True to reality and every person's life experience. We make mistakes but we cannot undo them. We are forced to go forward. I thought it was an excellent piece of prose. Keep up the good work.

....

probably the most brilliant way of writing about a failed relationship that i have ever read....very brilliant. in the end a bad relationship is just a bad relationship but you altered one into a brilliant scientific poem!

I guess to do not need to be an O'level student to understand the science here, but it helps. The poem is beautifully written, and originally, too. I needed to read it a couple of times to comprehend it fully but that is no bad thing. Good, yes, good.
