ImageI. Twins
Born
Of Industrial waste
And far off cities.
Soon we leave,
We’re leaving.
Do you remember
Where you received those eyes?
That stance?
Love
Is wagons and pigtails.
Evil
Is sharing the front seat.
Did you hate me?
I hated you.
We both loved the sun,
Came from water,
Worshipped our Gods.
You never remember
That day.
That day we sat on the beach in Carmel
Shivering, hovering
You never remember.

II. He Becomes a Part of Us
Fog
Stagnant and stale
Stank of old air.
We’ve stopped talking
You run differently
And he is born.
There are no mistakes, you say.
Tell her that.
You wish you could play
The violin
So I take up the cello.
Its heavy.

III. Birthdays
Experience earned
You call yourself an artist
And I try.
We are the same,
Born of the same…
Am I great?
I can see your bravery
She gave it to you
Gave us hope.
Days are shorter now.
It doesn’t matter
They always come back.
To summer
To June
To those four days that separate us.
Those four days
Hold onto them
We take off.
I am alone with you
And I already know I love you more.

Rivalry

Nice tale of sibling rivalry, and it's not limited to same sex.

Our two fight like cat and dog and there's eight years between them.

All the things you portray here have happened to me, both with our children and with my own sister.

Brought back many memories now that they're both grown up and sis is far away.

Thank you.

Phil

brilliant

That's a very interesting idea to include several poems into one entry. Maybe I could try that...save some credits. Lol. Of course, the topics would have to be similar.

I loved the emotions and how each one varied. I liked the titles as well, as they fit perfectly with the poems.

Very well done!

Very well thought out and written. I, too, have a sister that I seem to have lost touch with- or were we ever really in touch? I'm not sure. Maybe I should give her a call...

Good job!

I did not understand this until I read the comments and then I kind of got it. But it still was a little out there. But this was a okay poem-ish so good job.

My reaction to this poem was to imagine ways the stanzas applied to my own brother and sister, in which case I felt very connected to this poem. It didnt have a traditional structure or rhythm, but in this case that seems like a perfect choice. Well done

I've a younger sister. We used to fight like cats and dogs (I was the cat and I was the dog too) and all for no reason. There was no rivalry too. But that was how we were. Your poem reminded me of those years.

sister

I am new.

Came here because I had seen you on other's pages.

Never had a sister, so will not comment. It is beyond my imagination.

But I like your style.

Will now move to another of your things.

Kind regards

Harmattan
