Imagechase the channel dragon into dreams unforeseen by mere mortal man.
chase the beat throughout the night, as you rave away your life
chopping lines, what writers do? Or when your life began
stumbling through a K hole, we create our own strife

addictions come in many forms
I dare to ask, what are yours?

caffeine and cocaine
what is in a name?

In business terms I call it condensed energy
imagine if it was only $4:20 a gallon
will the world come together with synergy?
or crumble against so many a chemical stallion?

ride hard upon those waves of dependency
you chase a feeling I can never give
you forgot our soft seconds of intimacy
losing our soft moments I can not forgive

when need overrides an addicted mind
indecent acts for decadent money come to mind

I lost my love to lust’s embrace
stolen away to my disgrace

what else can I do?
I wash my hands, I’m through

your vices made me listen to the
Voices of reality who are telling me to
leave you to your addicted mentality

you dare choose your dealer
over a best friend and lover

call me some day if you ever recover
my dear lost best friend and lover

Nicely done. I thought you had a strong voice in this piece. The meaning was well conveyed and the wording wasn't forced into rhyming. I don't usually read poetry but I liked this.

This was not a bad poem. Though provoking. I especially loved the line "you forgot our soft seconds of intimacy". That is a very personal and well-written line.

Overall, though, it was hard to tell who was doing the speaking- the dealer, the junkie, or an other person. Still, it was pretty good.

"I lost my love to lust’s embrace

stolen away to my disgrace"

I used to be into the rave scene, years ago. I met people who were in the state the poem speaks of, where 'need' for drugs became more powerful than the mere desire for fun. I have expemented enough to know the feeling that can never really be reached again after the first time, one that is always being sought ever after. It's a bit of a trap, people should remember that. I liked this poem a lot, excellent work.

Hey, a real poem about a real lost love, and a reason for it.

Ten times the content of some depressive blurb.

I am glad you left a bit out..... the self righteous bit about not being your fault at all.....

And I have tried them all, and not one worth a jot. I am addicted to life, as long as I can smoke a cigarette now and then.

Does that count. I've never lost a lover through it.

Thank you

Kind Regards

Harmattan
