Oh summer is here

The weather is warm

Short shorts and tank tops

Is how they're adorned

School has concluded

That is, til next fall

Vacations and sleeping in

Just having a ball

But that's just the surface

What you see when they're out

Inside things are different

Makes me cower and shout.

When they're inside, they're screaming

And pulling out hair

Tears wetting cheeks

Shouts fly through the air

She's sitting on my seat!

She's giving me looks!

She hit me in the face with that really heavy book!

Oh come quickly school year!

Give me a break father time!

If it takes any longer

I'm not sure I'll survive! Yell

brought a smile to my face

Well written, I liked this. You had some good rhymes in there. I especially like the fifth stanza. "she hit me in the face with that really heavy book!" heheh

funny, conveyed emotion, and told a story. What else is a poem supposed to do?

that was such a cute poem. it was really light hearted and so true. My sister is five and about an hour ago she was bored so she was trying to annoy me. i read this and was like i could so relate to this.

A+

This is really fun. I work nights and I can feel you pain. Try to sleep with that going on all day. I assume that the kids a quiet when I'm at work (they are asleep), but the never fail to wake up at 8:00 in the morning when its my turn. Good job. Thanks for the giggles.

That really captures the privacy of household with more than one child in the same age group.

AMVOS

Tearing one's hair out is never "cute", never pleasant to do but always funny to watch.

Saw it for a few years from a teacher's point of view, reversed.

We used to say "That is what they send us every day. Let's see how they like it!"

Loved that "giving me looks" bit.

Kids always fall back on that one when they cannot think of any thing else.

(I am in the middle of doing back-catalogues, that is why I landed here!)

Cheer up, it's September.

Kind regards

Harmattan
