A Healing

Mathew ignored the horrendous smell, but passed out as...

Love Crawls Down the Drain

I can't believe she broke up with me! After five years...

Unwanted Praise

I listen to the people circled around me

Their faces are smiles, their words make them liars.

You're beautiful! - They say. You're one of a kind!

What is their problem? Are they really that blind?

I see what they don't see, I know things they don't

I know what goes on in the darkest of hours

The thoughts in my head that are darkened and sour.

They're still going at it, they still have no clue

They can't see the tears, or the pain I've gone through

But I'll stand and receive, knowing they're all deceived

The praise and admiration that I don't want or need.

I fully understand where you're coming from, especially since I am my own worst critic. This is very good. I like it.

self-hatred

I hate myself

I'm no good

I'm boring

I'm useless

I shit

I'm rude

I'm lazy

I'm selfish

I play my records too loud

I'm ugly

I'm stupid

I smell

I take myself too seriously

I hog the remote control

I'm mean

I'm impatient

I don't return phonecalls

I lie

I cheat

I steal

I talk too much

I'm arrogant

I need a haircut

And I write crappy poems

Great poem. Loved it a lot. I have a friend who gets mad at me when I try to deflect compliments. He tells me that we are our own worst critics and that we need to just be happy with who we are. No self loathing. We all know more about ourselves than we show to the public. It's living with it that's the issue

Enjoyed this poem. A pure revelation of what goes on inside a person that others don't see. Things are not always as they seem to be.
