The abandoned loneliness left
Weeping along the edges of
My silent despondency
Mourns not for the peaceful
Winds of contentment to
Still its wordless cries
But to be merely considered
With fond awareness amidst
The remnant twilights of
Recollection's earliest dawn
Before the story of us
Slipped inexorably through
The desperate fingers of hope's
Ineffectual grip, forever landing
The sorrowed memory which my
Mind replays every time I blink
For found between each sleepy blink
Is a knowing smile waiting to touch
Upon my lips, and a forgotten laughter
Heard echoing from the loneliness edging
Along the remnants of our intimacies
Where the candlelight spilling
Into your eyes is always caught
By the subtle confidence moving
Mutual passion through your heart
And fascination begins wrapping
Itself around love's gentle sway
When time holds fast to the lasting
Impressions your quiet kisses make
Upon the trembling skin of my bare shoulder
And your exploring fingers play curiously
Along the slope of my midriff
But also heard between these blinking
Remnants of yesterday's faded twilight
Are the whispered lamentations from a loneliness
Left wavering on the edge of despondency
Imploring me to never wake again
