Your heroes will only ever get in your way
and the taxman never stops trying to make you pay
the answers you look for end up being questions
but our own highs and lows is all we ever knows

Science doesn't know who you're gonna be tomorrow
and the sweetest perfume only seems to bring sorrow
smoking's not the best way to be true to yourself
but let it never be said we don't deserve our daily bread

So you're born, you live a life, then you die alone
and too late you're regretting the seeds you've sown
people go through this all the time, you know, it's true
but there's no denying, it seems not really worth trying

Well, the twenty first century has really knocked me down
and I lie in bed and wish I could be more than your clown
things always look better when they're behind you
but I could have sworn I never asked to be born

Oy! True true, deep indeed. A bit of a regretful and sad poem. I think I liked it. The rhyming scheme got a little confusing, but it was still decent.

Really love the first line and the last stanza. The first line seems so obvious when you say it that I can't believe someone hasn't said it before now.

Liked it!

Its very depressing in places and you really manage to get the feeling of confusion across.
