"Someday, he will love me! I swear it!" I shouted after Chelsey reprimanded me once again about my fantasy love affair with Anthony.

Chelsey sighed. Why couldn't she understand we were destined to be together? Some people meet their true love in high school, so why couldn't she think that I could have that possibility too?

"Sarah? I want you to be careful. Do you think I want to see my best friend's heart get trampled?" Chelsey whispered as if we were in church.

I completely tuned out anything else she said. Anthony was good to me; he'd never break my heart. There he is. Oh no! Jonathan's with him. What could they-

"Sarah! Are you listening to me?" Chelsey brought me back to our conversation.

            "Of course I am!"

            "What did I just-"

"I'm sorry, Chels, I have to deal with that. We'll talk about this more later."

"Yeah, right," she mumbled as I started making my way toward Anthony and Jonathan.

"Hi guys," I said when I reached them. Their faces were hard, but Anthony's quickly changed.

"Good morning, Beautiful!" he answered just a little too loud. So Jon could hear as he walked away, I suppose.

Anthony handed me my science book from his locker and shut it.

As we turned to start toward our classes, I asked, "What were you talking to Jon about?"

A subtle look of desperation danced across his face. "Well...he came up to me and told me that you..."

"That I what?" I said panicking.

            "That you have...feelings for me."

Looking down at my books, my eyes filled with tears. I knew by the way he said it, he didn't have them too.

"Sarah, I've never thought about it. Give me some time to think about it. I don't want to lose our friendship."

Chelsey was right. From that moment on, Anthony and I never talked again.

Hmmm,

The high school drama thing is a bit odd but depending on what you do next can make or break this story.

True true. Emotions make awkward situations of friendships. Good story.

FYI...

This was an assignment. We were given 20 minutes and could write about whatever we wanted... I changed nothing from the original for this one.
