I seem to fear only the average man
the man,the man without distinction
a cheerful man when he is happy
and a cheerful man when he is sad
his demeanour does not change

for his feelings
of happiness,sadness and anything
are never strong enough to permit
a change in demeanour
for they are average

I fear this man for if
I cannot tell exactly who he is
then I cannot communicate with him
the average man hides his situation
he can keep his past from hurting him
this is his advantage over me

this means I stand out
from these average average dullards
and I'm caught struggling with emotions
compared to the complacent faces
I seem witless and highly strung
and the average man stares
at this creature before him

if I was given the choices
of being an average man
who feels nothing strongly
or something who sees
the average man for what he is
then I'll spend eternity failing
to make that choice
between happiness and knowledge.

....

Well done. There was not one word I wanted to change as I read this aloud. I admire the truthful fashion of your work.
