Introduction

Please lets all sit and ponder this for a moment, read these words, question them, think about them, and apply them to yourselves and your reading.

The world we now live in is a horrible, terrifying, villian infested place where your modern man is now an ant in an ant farm, constantly working for a better environment and being watched and judged by the higher species. Then that day comes when it finally gets to answer the question that ants and humans alike ask themselves everyday: "What is this death stuff all about?" And when it dies it will only be entertainment for the higher species, as they cackle and point as the other ants consume your body for substinence.

When I speak of the "higher species" to us humans, I do not speak of extratarestrials or spirits or what not. But of the politicians, the democrats and republicans, the conglomerates and ceos of our worlds major corporations, the pope and the preist, and some select celebrities that have almost as much power and influence as the aforementioned sects for no reason at all. There is no way for us to escape them, they will always be there with fake smiles and hidden agenda's. A rose just for you in one hand and everything you will ever hold dear in life such as dignity, pride, life earnings and the futures of your bloodline, all for the higher species in the other hand.

And all we have ever done about this is protest and strike. But this only gives passerby's something to read as they drive to a destination that no living creature should ever have to go to survive: Your Job.

Now with all of this happening all at once and in repitition, when can a simple human sit and ponder on the big picture. What the hell is the existance of humanity all about? We are the only creature that can answer these questions if we really put our minds to it. Which brings me to the cliche phrase: "We can do anything if we put our minds to it." This saying has lost all meaning as of late, but I still have the strongest belief in my gut that no truer words have ever been spoken. But thats for a whole other introduction to a whole other book. This is my first by the way.

But there are things, unlike the humans, the animals, the plants, and our landscape that arent affected by this higher species. These being the rocks and the dirt, the boulders and the mud. And it is of deep shame that these "creatures" can never know and relish what they have. Absolute freedom and the closest thing to immortality we will ever see on this earth.

The character in this story is one of these "creatures", a stone that I have named Igneous.

Through a bizaare chain of events he became graced with the gift of thought and memories. Hopefully this formula of conscience + stone x immortality / the abilty to watch all of the events of the present all the way to the end of everything with out even scooting a milimeter, just left to sit and ponder for the rest of its life what these happenings were all about, will thus equal an interesting story for someone to enjoy.

Happy reading,

Casey Aaron Horner

....

I take it that this is an intro for a book or series you're writing? Pretty mind bending and informative with questions.

Broad topic

That is a pretty expansive topic to cover. I'm interested to see how you form the narrative throughout history. I can't imagine there would be much dialogue, an omniscient narrator might be helpful in moving the story along.

Wide open

I love the idea. You can go anywhere with this. A lot can be done with Igneous's attitude. Why am I thinking Douglas Adams?
