There's nothing quite like watching the stars.  Whether you're laying out on the front lawn during a warm summer's eve or standing outside, bundled up in the chill of winter.  The stars and a clear night sky contain the same breathtaking beauty regardless of the weather.

When I was growing up, I spent a lot of time at my grandfather's cabin on the lake, just hanging out with people.  Sometimes, we'd have a campfire and sit around talking about nothing.  Those were the times I laid on the pier and stared at the seemingly endless blanket of stars.  It was like being in a planetarium where you're surrounded by the star-covered dome, but there was so much more room and the familiar surroundings of the glass-like water, the two adventure-filled islands, and the Jewish summer camp just across the lake, which was always active during the night.  As I laid out and watched the beautiful creation God provided, I enjoyed listening to the singing and the music coming from the vibrant summer camp.

As I grew older and got myself into a long-distance relationship, I used to lay on my picnic table in the backyard and talk for hours on the phone with my sweetheart.  I imagined laying out on the deck with her and just staring up until we fell asleep.  As time passed, the relationship faded but the desire to star-gaze with another remained.

Even in this day and age, watching the stars is an important part of my life.  It reminds me how small this world really is and displays God's truely beautiful creation.  It is one of the most romantic things that two lovers can do together.  No one is ever too young or too old, too busy or too lazy to walk outside on a clear night and just gaze toward the heavens.  Until I am a wise old grandfather enjoying past memories and all the blessings given to me, I will continue to appreciate those twinkling bits of Heaven in the night sky.
