Running from truth

Hiding in the shadows.

I'm afraid to show

my faults, my pain.

Shy away from her

Disappointment follows

the truth.

See the hurt.

Someday, honesty will

catch you.

Right now, hide

behind the walls of facades.

The perfect facade

is one that never breaks

one to hold on to

for dear life.

You can't break it

because I won't allow it.

Start tapping the rocky shell,

and I'll retreat even more.

One day, maybe I'll grow

out of it.

Maybe I won't, though.

It'll become my entire existence

and we'll know nothing else.

If you take my perfect facade,

I'll be left with nothing.

Stripped of my once

familiar dignity

and forced to build anew.

Posted by Egoist 2008-05-10 10:20:16 .... To build anew facade? Why not just stop hiding and stand up for yourself? Grow strong, rather than grow another. Because in the end, hiding gets you no where. At least my perception. Good story, but grow out of the hiding. What's it all worth in the end and no one knew you were even here? + Report this comment
Posted by resistanceisfreedom 2008-05-10 21:53:27 .... i liked this. i had to read it a couple times for some reason, not because i didn't understand it but to really look at every word and to really determine how good this actually way. hmmmm don't we all hide in life, though? i don't think there is any one human being who doesn't hide something from the rest of the world. we all have to hide behind something. and for some of us, if we didn't hide we would be labeled insane. + Report this comment
