Five small wooden figurines sat atop a shelf. Each one was a small carving of an animal, pig, bear, fox, snake and a monkey. The shelf was nailed into the stones of the basement. With a chilling creek the basement door opened to let false light in. The shadowy figure clomped his way down the stairs, each one moaning in protest. He approached the shelf and studied the tiny figurines before placing another next to the monkey. It was a horse, its two front legs rose high into the air. The man gave out a cackle before leaving the basement, closing the door behind himself. The lonely room was left dark once more.

“So everyone here is a highly qualified student from different countries?” Amanda asks.

“It appears so.” Sasuke answers with a sigh. “Personally I don’t care…this is far too troublesome.”

“Well that’s not a very good attitude.” Andrew hollers. “After all this could be a good chance for…. what are we here for again?”

“We’re here because of a request to test our skills.” Raman explains. “We are to do a number of tasks that would show if we are suited the title of the most academic student of the world. If you ask me I don’t think any one of you would get the title.”

“And who are you to say that?” Amanda steps in. “We are just as capable of the title as you are!”

“Everyone here has a part time job…by these jobs you can tell a lot by the person. Cameron is the apprentice chief. Yourself Amanda you’re a waitress. Katrina is a model. Sasuke is a martial arts teacher. Andrew you’re a football player…as for myself I’m a part time computer programmer. I’m the only one that actually has to use their brain for their work”

“How did you know that?” Katrina gasps. “You know everything about everyone and we know nothing about you…that totally isn’t fair.”

“The jet is ready to land please buckle your seatbelts.” The pilots voice crackled through a speaker.
