Hundreds of albums sold everyday,
Only a few single songs are played,
Earnest bands and fickle fans,
Flavor of the month still packing the stands,
And it's been that way since rock n' roll,
Producing the hits and gettin' 'em sold,
But now radio play isn't the only way,
The Internets here so choose to pay,
But the album play needs saving more,
When the band's fans are billboard whores,
And you're so proud of your diversity,
One track, one song, shallowly cataloged,
So go spend your money on a 2 song CD,
Or you can just go download it for free,
Play that hit station its repetition,
Or should I say public unison,
Where are the bands and where's the support,
Where's the album you'll pay 20 bucks for,
Frivolous tracks but the singles good,
The leaves of the trees are replacing the wood,
And that leaves room for a lot of thought,
Like which band's albums deserve to be bought,
Are they the ones up high on the charts,
Or critics opinions submitted and printed,
It's your decision it's your life
Do what you like,
But beware of the mainstream machine,
Overplayed profit can be fleeting.

Some songs I here on the radio are terrible...(lick it like a lolipop) superman that)...I could go on and on....and no im not picking on rap only,,,but its sad when everything has to be about vulgarity to sell. Wheres the REAL talent...black and white. We are to blame I guess(society that is). nice poem by the way. » Reply to this comment... ![]() 05-06-2008 10:30, totally agree with you potter just go to limewire if ya want music lol thats what i do... » Reply to this comment... ![]() 05-07-2008 15:54, Ah. Going to limewire for music is part of the problem because it is sapping dollars straight out of 1) the record industry, which puts out new music and when it is losing money, and which will stick to reliable artists that will turn a buck in order for themselves to stay in business. 2) and the artists themselves, obviously. be they punk, randb, rap or fucking muddy waters himself. I just started buying vinyl. Not only is it so full of quality substance and good art, it seems to be missing a lot of the singles era that we are so unfortunate to have thrust upon us. I'll tell you an album to be bought. Anything by Fake Problems. Have a good one. » Reply to this comment... |
