This is supposed to be a short chapter story since the chapters aren't long. For now I'll just post the first one and see what happens. Anyway this is something I thought of when I was on the edge of a nervous breakdown and needed something to keep my somewhat sane. This is what came out and I hope I made something beautiful of the negativity in my life.

"Hopeless Runaway"

Part One: "Sinking Faster, Breaking Harder"

Myst stared out the window of the train as the hulking machine picked up speed. People in the station stared back at her without really seeing her. No one noticed the brown ears hidden inside the dark hood of her jacket, or her wide blue eyes. She seemed to be staring out at nothing, but she was really thinking.

“Sinking slow into the sand. I can’t pull myself out of this mess. No strength left to pull myself up. I try to scream, but no sound comes out. No one hears me as I sink faster into the nightmare.”

Quickly, she scribbled down the random thoughts into her notebook. It seemed to be the only place she was safe in, her imaginary world. A wave of pain tightened in her chest and she inhaled slowly. it had been like this since Myst had run from home. Or what was left her “home” it wasn’t really home to her when she finally left that god forsaken place. She still had to hide her ears inside a hooded jacket and only come out at night. Her tail was much to obvious for people to ignore and Myst couldn’t risk being found by anyone. She could still hear her little brother cursing and screaming at her till she was on the verge of tears.

“I hope you die you stupid, fucking bitch!” he snarled before storming out.

That’s when she finally had enough.

“I hope you go to hell,” she choked as he slammed the door shut.

Then she packed her bag, took some money from the emergency stash and ran without knowing where she would go.

Tears burned in her eyes, but she forced them back down. No sense crying over nothing. So what if she could hear the screams of her family fighting, or feel alone when she saw a group of girls together. It had been that way for years and nothing was going to change that. Myst could only rely on herself and no one else. Even if she was sinking with no way out of the nightmare.

“There’s no way out for me in this life. All I can do is sink faster till I’m trapped in this nightmare. I’ve broken apart like a china doll and there’s no one to put me back together. I can’t go on like this anymore. I can’t stop sinking into this nightmare,” she wrote and then closed the pen’s cap.

Ink stained her delicate fingers and she put the pen and journal into her bag. Myst knew it would be awhile before she reached the next town. Suddenly her eyes began closing and she let herself fall into unconsciousness.

In her dream she was running into a dark abyss with shadows dancing all around her. Myst tried to scream but her voice was cut out completely. She didn’t even realize she was falling till the darkness engulfed her and she slipped into nothing. She knew she was breaking harder than before, but this time she didn’t try to stop it.
