Chapter 5
Problems 2
About half an hour later we started loading all of our patients into our ambulance and we transported a little group over and then decided to search the place for survivors before we brought the rest. The first 2 floors were clean, no sign of anyone being in there. We were all worried about the top floor because the stranger told us that the haze has a weird effect on people made them go insane and they usually liked to be cooped up in the tops of buildings until they just died from the haze. We were on the 3rd floor of the hospital when to our disgust we found bodies of nurses, doctors, patients everyone gone most of them had body parts missing or looked like they were eaten right off their bodies.
We heard a number of things as the night grew, howls that rang through the hospital, groans that would send chills down your spine and laughs, blood curdling laughs from the top few floors. "Just a few of God's soldiers boys" Herbert said prominently "Don't you fucking dare start with your fucking God bullshit Herb" said the stranger "I've had enough of God, if this is God's will, then God killed my family so the next time your praying to him you tell him I said go fu-" I stopped him right there before he got too far. "We're going to have to work together before we all die and you two yelling isnt helping" they seemed to understand and fell silent immediately.
The noises upstairs sounded like something out of our supernatural book of creatures (one of the books the patients get to read while they wait) hopefully there was no werewolves. Walking around on the 5th floor up, currently the 5th we noticed 2 guns on the ground; one was a revolver of some type the other looked like a police handgun. Of course we picked them up they had a few bullets left and looked like they were used to defends themselves from something but as Herbert would say "GOD only knows what". We heard a few gunshots from upstairs also some screams, ripping and gnawing. It twisted and turned one patient's stomach so much and he vomited all over the hospital floor. We decided to leave him in one of the hospital beds while we went to investigate.
As we ventured through the hospital we noticed more sounds and gunshots coming from above, "what's going on up there?" i asked the group, almost everyone shrugged and didn't know what it could be. Someone suggested survivors trying to fight off a monster or something to that effect.

![]() 05-10-2008 09:00, The fact that they're hiding upstairs is such a creepy effect. Not like hospitals are uncomfortable already, but having to stay in the same building with moans and howls coming from upstairs in the dark, is pretty freaking creepy. This is such a tense moment in the story. Oh and how that cliffhanger prevails. The fact that you ended it so calmly but with a supernatural being keeps the reader tense. I'm really enjoying this, to the next. » Reply to this comment... |
