Inspired by the song by Daniel Kallman
The great timber doors of the town's prison open before me. Ba-da-dum I'm aboard the "Endeavor" for the very first time The air is always cold and damp this early in the morning. Ba-da-dum I am standing at the wheel as my crew boards the ship Especially with that icy breeze coming up from the sea. Ba-da-dum As they pass each one salutes and calls me "Captain" The big men pulling my chains don't seem to notice. Ba-da-dum We set off on our maiden voyage to the island of Tortuga A single snare plays out above the restless crowd. Ba-da-dum It was a pirate's last paradise in those days The people in the streets glare at me as I pass. Ba-da-dum We pilfer, we pillage, and we plunder mercilessly I am led up the wooden, creaking stairs. Ba-da-dum It truly is naught but a pirate's life that suits me I am put in position by the two men. Ba-da-dum The ports of the Caribbean learn to fear our names The noose goes over my head. Ba-da-dum And the blood red flag that flies from the mast My hands are bound tight. Ba-da-dum The sun shines stunningly and the western wind howls Hanging on my neck. Ba-da-dum It fills our sails as we glide through the shimmering sea The rope is heavy. Ba-da-dum From the stern I inhale the strong scent of sea salt I stay very still. Ba-da-dum The spray whips back my hair and stings my eyes Pulled tight. Ba-da-dum I sail on to the horizon. I will sail the sea forever Head up. Silence
