Jenna looked down at herself. She sighed. She did not want to go to the party, but she let Beth talk her into it. She tried to adjust the top of her costume and swore. She hated this outfit.

"Beth this damned thing don't fit." She told her.

Beth giggled. "Of course it does. You look absolutely perfect."

She looked in the mirror. "Oh good lord I look like hell."

Beth started laughing and said "You do not." She walked up behind her and said "You look perfect. The dress is supposed to be low at the top." She pulled the high waist of the dress down a little and said "You look beautiful."

She rolled her eyes. "Well get that mask. I don't want anyone to see me like this."

Beth was biting her lip to keep from laughing. She reached for the mask and helped her put it on and tied it. She reached up and pulled a couple of curls out of the mass that she had helped create at the top of Jenna's head. "There it is absolutely perfect. Well except for some lipstick."

Jenna said "Oh no. This is bad enough. No lipstick."

Beth laughed and pulled out a couple of tubes and finally selected one. "Just put a little on."

Later they finally were on their way over to the gymnasium. "I hope you appreciate this Beth." She pulled the black shawl over her shoulders and tied the knot in front of her. She at least felt a little better with it on.

Beth giggled and said "I do I swear I do. I know you don't want to come."

Jenna bit her lip to keep from laughing. She did hate to come, but knew Beth's boyfriend had just broke up with her and she had wanted to go to the Halloween party anyways. She was not the type to go to any party and had avoided all social events up until now. But when Ken had broken up with Beth a couple of weeks ago she had been so depressed that when she had asked her to go with her to the party she hadn't had the heart to say no.

Jenna did not fit in with anyone at this party she knew. She was a recluse pretty much and had kept to herself. She was also not slim and beautiful like a lot of the girls around here. She was about five and a half feet tall and weighed about one seventy. She knew she was heavy, but she was not particularly worried about her looks. She was here to get an education and that was what she concentrated on.

She walked into the gymnasium and heard the music blasting. She walked in with Beth and looked around "Good lord there are enough people."

Beth nodded. "This is so much fun." She reached for her arm and pulled her with her towards a couple of tables. They sat with some girls that Beth knew and she was pretty quiet. Her outfit she had let Beth help her pick one out. She had no idea what it was supposed to be, but it was all black, with a black lace covering over the satin and it had a scoop neck that was very low. And with her larger than most girls' chest she filled it more than enough. The waist was higher than most dresses so it flowed over her waist. Her long dark hair was piled on top of her head and had curls that came out of it. At least with the black and white glittered mask you couldn't see her face.

She had been there for two hours and was tired. She had walked around with Beth to several different booths and hadn't wanted to say anything about leaving, but had desperately wanted to. She looked down at her hands and itched to take off the gloves that covered her hands. She was getting hot and wanted to go outside.

Beth finally said "Just a little bit longer okay?"

She nodded absently and saw a man walk up to Beth and ask her to dance. She smiled as they walked out to the dance floor. She sighed and reached for the shawl that covered her and pulled it off and tossed it on the table in front of her. She stood up and walked over to the table where the punch was at and reached for a glass of it. She drank it quickly and walked over and threw it away.

She turned around and was making her way over to her seat when a man stopped in front of her. She stopped and looked up. He smiled down at her. She was glad for her mask so he couldn't see her shocked expression.

                "Dance?"

She swallowed which was hard and knew she shouldn't take his hand, but put her hand in his and let him guide her to the dance floor. He turned slightly and took both of her hands pulled them upwards and she automatically slid them around his neck as his hands slid around her waist and pulled her close to his body.

She had seen him and knew he was popular around school. He obviously had no idea who she was because if he did he wouldn't be dancing with her. He stood about six foot two and weighed about two forty. He played on the football team and was pretty good from what she had heard from some people around school. His outfit was a black pair of pants and a pair of black boots with a shirt that had was white and had some ruffles with it unbuttoned half way. He had an eyepatch on his eye with his dark hair hidden beneath a bandanna.

She had to admit that he did look like a pirate. She swallowed and allowed him to guide her around the dance floor. She felt like a princess for once in her life. She felt his hands slide around on her back as he moved easily around the floor. She listened to the song and heard her favorite band play. She loved Aerosmith and found the song Angel one of her favorites.

She looked up at him and told herself once again that at least she was wearing a mask and there was no way he could see her face. Her mask was from the top of her eyes to her lips. The top had black feathers that were small but seemed to blend in well with her dark hair.

She felt his hands slide a little lower and was a little shocked when he pulled her closer. She had thought they were plenty close enough. She know felt his legs against her own and tried to concentrate on not tripping over the dress.

"So what are you a princess dressed in black?"

She laughed softly. "I uh suppose so. I'm not actually sure what it is supposed to be to tell you the truth." The truth was that no outfit had fit her exactly right. So the dress was supposed to have come with a vest that she couldn't have buttoned up if her life had depended upon it.

He stared down and she felt herself blush and was glad for the low lighting. He was obviously staring at the tops of her breasts that were very visible. He said "I like it."

She smiled and said "So you're the pirate hmm?"

He nodded. "Should feel scared. I could take you away at any time."

She grinned up at him. "I guess I'll have to take my chances."

He laughed "Daring thing aren't you?"

No she was far from daring, but tonight with no one knowing who she was she felt different. "I guess I am."

He said "I'm glad." The songs changed and he didn't let her go but kept her in his arms. She felt a little better with his arms around her. At least she didn't feel quite so awkward. "So you go to school here?"

                She said "Oh yes."

                "I haven't seen you around."

He wouldn't have noticed her anyways she knew. If it wasn't for the revealing outfit she had on he would never had gave her a second glance she knew. She just smiled up at him and said "I guess uh fate has just seen fit to see our paths to cross."

He said "I'm never one to question fate."

                She smiled at him.

"So you believe in fate huh?" He asked her.

                She said "Yes."

"Me too." He smiled and bent his head slowly and said "I definitely think it was fate tonight for us to meet."

She swallowed as he stopped dancing. He kept one hand at her back and slowly slid the other one up her side and reached for her one arm and pulled her satin covered hand from around his neck and never let his eyes leave hers. "It's midnight you know?"

She looked over at the clock on the wall and swallowed. "It's uh three minutes till."

He grinned at her. "So are you Cinderella and at midnight you have flee?"

She smiled up at him and said "I don't know. My fairy godmother forgot to tell me."

He slowly slid his hand to her chin and tipped her face up so she was looking directly into his eyes. He said "Well let me make sure I get this right before you run off."

She started to say something, but was stopped as his lips covered hers. She lost track of thought and time. The only thing she knew was his lips felt wonderful against her own. She felt the electricity course through her body and returned the kiss hesitantly at first, but then with some coaxing from him she opened her mouth and felt his tongue slide in over her teeth.

He couldn't remember when a kiss had ever affected him so much. He wasn't sure what it was about the girl he was kissing, but he couldn't get enough of her. She tasted so sweet and as her lips opened he slipped his tongue in her mouth and slid both hands along her cheeks and held her close as he continued to kiss her. He slid his hands slowly down from her face and continued to kiss her. His hands slid down her arms and he laced his hands with hers.

He forgot about being in the middle of a dance and the couple hundred people that were around them. The only thing he could think about was the fact that the kiss they were sharing was something he had never experienced with anyone. He tightened his hands and slowly slid their hands behind her back and brought her closer to him. He groaned as he felt her breasts tight against his chest. He felt his body react to her softness and heard her intake of breath as she felt it too.

The lights being abruptly turned on broke the kiss. She blinked to adjust her eyes and backed up a step and felt his hands release hers as he shaded his eyes. She all of a sudden knew she had to get away. She didn't want him seeing her now without the cover of darkness surrounding her. She turned away, but felt his hand on her arm. She stopped and looked at him.

"Wait where are you going?" He asked her.

She looked at him one time and then tugged her arm away and felt her bracelet slip off her hand but didn't stop. She fled through the crowd and was glad that a lot of people started to walk around so she could blend in easily. She saw the table and Beth was sitting there. She reached for her shawl and said "I'm going."

Beth blinked and stood up. "Okay."

She didn't say a word as she raced out of the gymnasium. She raced towards the dorm as if the hounds of hell were on her heels. She stopped only when they slipped inside. She stopped and looked over at Beth.

Beth started to laugh and said "Okay. What happened?"

She started to say something then said "First things first. I'm changing." She turned and started towards their room. When she got inside she finally sat down on her bed. "Oh lord."

Beth said "So who was he?"

She looked over at Beth and said "Who?"

She giggled. "Well your lipstick is all but gone and your lips; honey are quite bruised. So it doesn't take a brain surgeon to know that someone kissed you...and kissed you good."

She blushed and pulled the mask off and tossed it on her bed and said "Oh lord. I can't believe this night. I should never have gone."

She started laughing and sat down and said "So tell me."

She pulled the pins out of her hair and let it fall and said "You won't believe me."

                She said "Try me."

She pulled her gloves off and slid her hand through her hair and said "Chase Daniels."

                Beth gasped. "Oh my god."

She nodded. "And you are not going to say a word."

She said "Cross my heart." She said "So tell me."

She said "What?" She stood up and reached for her bedclothes and started towards the bathroom.

                "How was the kiss?"

She had her hand on the door to the bathroom and stopped and looked at Beth. "Definitely made my toes curl." She walked into the bathroom and heard Beth laugh.

The following day they were eating at the dining hall and talking about their classes. She looked at Beth and saw her eyes widen. She said "What's wrong?"

Beth didn't say anything but she turned slightly and saw what caught her attention. She saw Chase and a couple of his friends walk into the area they were sitting at. She slowly turned around and stared at Beth. She swallowed and neither of them talked as the men sat down just a couple of tables away from them.

"So man tell me more about this chic?" One of the guys said.

Chase leaned back in his seat and said "I don't know much, but she's a hell of a kisser."

Jenna put a hand over her mouth and watched as Beth bit her lip to try to stop from laughing.

"You don't know anything else about her?"

He said "She's got beautiful breasts."

She felt her face redden and looked down at her plate and this time Beth slapped a hand over her mouth.

"But no name or anything huh?"

He said "Well I'm not sure." He reached in his pocket and pulled out a bracelet and said "I believe her initials are J.M. at least that is what is on this bracelet."

She looked at Beth and reached for her tray. Beth did the same thing and they fled quickly. She didn't breathe until they were outside. She stopped and looked at Beth. "Oh my god Beth."

                Beth started laughing. "Oh girlfriend."

She slapped a hand on her forehead. "What am I going to do?"

"Well he doesn't know your name. He just knows your initials. It's not like he can figure out your name just from them."

                She nodded. "Very true."

Chase looked at the guys. "Have any idea how I can figure out her name from the initials?"

Jordan smiled. "Well at least we can narrow it down pretty easily. Remember the campus has a directory. If you want we can access that and just see how many names are J.M."

                "Hell yes."

An hour later he sat beside Jordan in his room and looked at the names on the computer. "Damn that isn't too bad is it? I mean there's only thirty-four."

Jordan printed it out and reached for a pen. "Lets cancel a few of them out. The male ones we know aren't it."

After a few minutes he laughed. "Well that leaves you with twelve. So now what is on your agenda?"

He grinned. "Doesn't the campus have a directory of phone numbers?"

Another ten minutes went by and he had the phone numbers for the twelve girls and said "Perfect."

Jordan laughed. "So what are you going to do call each one?"

                "Hell yes."

"What are you going to ask them?"

He shrugged. "I don't have a clue. I remember her voice."

Jenna sat on her bed and was reading some of her notes for her next class. She frowned as her phone rang. She thought about letting the voicemail pick it up, but reached for the phone.

                "Hello."

She heard silence on the other end and frowned. "Hello?"

                "Jenna."

She stopped breathing. "Who is this?"

Chase smiled and looked at the bracelet in his hand and said "You know who this is. Why did you run away?"

Jenna stared at the phone and said "You uh have the wrong person. I'm sorry."

He grinned. "No I don't. I remember your voice quite clearly."

She closed her eyes and sighed. "I need to study." She slowly slid the phone back into the cradle and stared at it.

He laughed and hit the off button on the phone and handed it to Jordan.  "Jenna Malone."

                Jordan said "You sure?"

He nodded. "Oh yes. I remember that voice."

"That the only thing you remember about her?"

He said "She's a great kisser."

Jordan laughed. "So now what is on your next agenda?"

He slid the bracelet through his fingers and said "I don't know. For now knowing who she is, is what I want. I'll have to figure out what is next."

She looked at Beth and said "He knows who I am."

"I don't know how he could have found out." Beth sat on her bed and said "Well don't worry about it sweety. It will be okay."

She nodded. She hoped Beth was right. She reached for her notes and tried to concentrate on the test she was going to have to take.

The following evening her and Beth were walking from the library. She sighed and said "You know today was a very long day."

Beth nodded. "You had the big test in Brigham's class right?"

She nodded. "He is a terrible teacher."

She stuck her hands in her jean jacket and giggled and said "I heard one of the guys in the room say during the tests that it was retarded that we didn't even cover some of the material."

Beth gasped and stopped. "You're kidding? What did Brigham do?"

She said "Well he go red in the face and just mumbled something about no talking during the test."

Beth started to giggle and she did too.

They kept walking on the sidewalk and saw a group of guys playing football and said "Don't you think its kind of late to be playing?"

Beth looked over at them and said "Oh I've seen them do this before. Ken used to come out here and play with the guys. Helps them loosen up and have some fun."

She was walking and was talking to Beth and didn't pay attention to what was going on. She heard a shout and turned her head slightly and the only thing she saw was a body hurdling towards her. She felt his body hit hers and saw him drop the football and reach for her as he fell. He turned slightly so she ended up falling on her side and his hands pulled her towards him so her head didn't hit the ground.

She gasped and pushed herself up and saw the guy sit up.

                "You okay?"

Beth squatted down and said "Jenna you okay?"

                She nodded. "Yeah I'm fine."

The guy stood up and said "Hell I'm sorry. I didn't even see you." He reached for her hand and helped her up. He reached for the football and turned around and then stopped. "Jenna Malone?"

She brushed the dirt from her pants and looked up at him and frowned. "Yeah. How did you know my last name?"

He grinned and said "I think I'm in one of your classes. You sure you're all right?"

She nodded. "I'm fine." She turned towards Beth and said "I think I'm ready to get back."

Beth nodded. She said "You sure you're okay?"

"Yeah. Just a little shaken up, but I'm fine."

Jordan jogged back over to the group of guys and threw the ball at Chase.

                "She okay?"

Jordan nodded. "Yep." He grinned and said "I uh even found out who I literally ran into."

Chase turned around and started heading back to the area they were playing at. "Oh yeah?"

Jordan said "Someone by the name of Jenna Malone." He watched as his friend stopped and turned around. "You serious?"

"Yep. " He turned around and said "See the two girls walking that way?"

He looked at the two walking away. "Which one is she?"

                "The long dark hair."

He grinned. He turned around and tossed the ball to one of the guys and said "Help me out a second."

Jenna looked at Beth and said "I really want to get in a hot shower."

Beth laughed. "You feeling sore from the collision?"

She said "I don't know if it's from that. I think it's just the stress."

They turned the corner and all of a sudden the same guy who had ran into her leaped in front of them. "Hi there."

They both stopped and gasped staring at him. Beth said "Uh hi."

He grinned at her and said "My name is Jordan what is yours?"

                Beth laughed and said "Beth."

"Well hi Beth." He walked over to her and said "You caught my eye."

                Beth said "I did?"

                He nodded. "You certainly did."

Jenna bit her lip and smiled as he talked to Beth she said "Hey Beth I'll see you later, okay?"

Beth looked at Jenna and said "Uh okay."

She grinned at her and turned around and headed back to the dorm. She turned the corner and headed up the sidewalk. She cut through the yard alongside an office building and gasped as she walked past a group of hedges and an arm slid around her waist and a hand over her mouth and she was pulled backwards.

She stood still as she was pulled back against a male body.

                "Jenna Malone."

She closed her eyes as the familiar voice spoke into her ear.

He felt her relax slightly and smiled. He didn't let her go because he was scared she would run. He said "Sometimes don't you think that you have to tempt fate's hand to get the chips to fall the way you want them to?"

She swallowed and let out a breath when he removed his hand from her mouth.  Her breath caught as his hand reached for her hair that was down her back.

"You have a lot of hair don't you?"

She nodded slowly. "Yeah." Her voice was soft.

He smiled and draped it over one of her shoulders and said "It's beautiful."

She frowned. She had certainly never heard her hair described as beautiful. She opened her mouth to tell him that when she felt his lips touch the spot behind her ear. She gasped as she felt his lips on her skin again.

He pressed a kiss behind her ear and said "You know I couldn't get you out of my mind?"

She swallowed which was difficult. "Oh." She was unprepared for his next move. He gripped one side of her jean jacket and pulled her around abruptly and she automatically fell towards him. Her hands came out and pressed against his chest as she stumbled against him. Before she could say anything or do anything he slid his hand alongside her face and kissed her.

As soon as his lips touched hers he felt the same electricity he had felt last time. Her lips were soft and he didn't hold back when his touched hers. He pulled her close to him and his hand cupped the side of her face.

She told herself to push him away and as her hand slid to his sweatshirt that he was wearing she thought for a split second about pushing him away and then she tightened her hand in his sweatshirt as he kissed her. His lips were hard against hers, but she didn't mind. As his tongue pushed past her lips she felt his hand behind her back pull her close against him.

He could stand there forever kissing her. Just kissing her sent electricity coursing through his body. He couldn't help his body's reaction as his lips feasted on hers. She was so sweet and tempting and he didn't know why just kissing her was scrambling his brains. He finally released her and pulled her close to him and slid both arms around her and rested his head against her shoulder.

She sucked in a gulp of oxygen and laid her head on his chest and tried to calm down her erratic breathing. She felt his arms tighten around her and felt his hot breath against her neck.

Chase felt like he had a better handle on himself and stood up straight and relaxed his arms around her and watched as she slipped out of them. He watched as she slid her hair away from her face and behind her ears. He finally got his first look at her. She was not the normal type of girl he would have gotten involved with. She was plain looking and was on the heavy side. But there was just something about her that he couldn't put his finger on that drew him to her.

He slid his hands over his face and said "You okay?"

She nodded. "Yeah. I'm fine." She swallowed and said "I uh should get going back to my dorm."

He nodded. "I'll walk you back."

She said "Oh there's no need. It's not far. Just a couple of more blocks."

He grinned at her and said "You never know what may be lurking in the shadows."

She looked up at him and felt a blush start to slide up her neck. "You do have a point."

He watched as she turned around and he fell into step beside her. "So Jenna."

                She said "Yeah."

"Why did you leave so quickly at the party?"

She shrugged. "I uh just thought I should be leaving."

He knew she was lying, but he didn't press for the truth at that point. He was quiet sensing that she didn't want to talk. When they got to her dorm she stopped briefly and turned to look at him and said "Thanks for walking me back." She turned around to flee into her dorm, but a hand snagged her jacket and she was pulled backwards.

He reached for her and pulled her back so she was looking at him. He took a step towards her and saw that she backed up and had her back against a square pillar. He said "So Jenna."

She gulped and stared up at him. "What?"

He asked "Can I have a goodnight kiss?"

She watched as a grin slid across his face. She swallowed and said "We just uh kissed."

He smiled and reached out and slid a hand alongside her cheek. He tipped her chin up to him and lowered his head. "One more." When she didn't say anything he lowered his head a bit more until his breath was touching her lips. "Please."

She closed her eyes as his breath touched her lips. "Okay." Her voice was barely above a whisper.

He heard it as if she would have yelled it. He kissed her. He told himself just a simple quick kiss is all he wanted. But as soon as his lips touched hers he was lost. He slid his hands around her waist and took a step closer to her. He opened his lips and sighed as he felt her hands slide up his arms and around his neck urging him closer.

She couldn't help herself. She tried to remain indifferent, but couldn't. There was no denying that with just a touch he could turn her insides out. She felt his hands slide lower and gasped as they slid down to her butt.

He grinned against her lips and kissed her again lightly and said "I just can't help myself."

She opened her eyes and swallowed and untangled her arms from around his neck and said "I uh should go in."

He nodded and watched as she fled inside.

She was trembling by the time she got upstairs. Beth was sitting on the bed looking at her and said "Well don't keep me waiting. Tell me everything."

She opened her mouth and then stopped. Smiling she said "I think I'm in over my head."

Beth nodded. "Definitely. But don't worry about it, enjoy it. So tell me what all happened. Jordan filled me in on what the plan was after you walked away, but he said that he had no idea what Chase was up to."

The following day she walked with Beth over to the gymnasium. They both had swimming today and for the first time neither of them wanted to go. She sat beside Beth on the side of the pool and listened to the teacher. After finally getting the go ahead they both slowly sank into the pool's water. She started wading slowly.

"So you don't know what's going on next hmm?" Beth asked her.

She shook her head. "No. Hopefully he got it out of his system."

Their teacher talked to someone and nodded. "It's a free swim today. The pool is big enough go ahead."

"I only have the offense working at the moment. So there will probably be only about twenty or so people at most."

Jenna slowly swam alongside Beth and looked as some guys started walking into the swimming area. The class was small at only twelve people, so there wasn't a lot of people in the pool. She frowned and said "Who are they?"

Beth squinted. "No idea. So what did you think of Jordan?"

Jenna giggled. She stopped and was trying to keep afloat as she said "I wondered when you would get around to that. So what was up with you two?"

Beth shrugged. "I really don't know if anything was. But he seemed awful nice."

"That he does. So do you like him?"

"I think he's cute." She looked at her and said "So what are you thinking about Chase?"

She shrugged and kept her arms moving so she wouldn't sink. "I'm trying not to. Oh Beth I'm really not who he's interested in. I think I am just...I don't know a passing fancy. And I'm certainly not going to get involved with anyone for that reason."

Beth said "Oh come on Jenna."

She shrugged her shoulders. "It's the truth Beth."

Beth said "You don't even know him that well. How can you make a generalization about him?"

                "I'm just being serious Beth."

As she was talking to Beth she was unprepared for someone swimming up behind her. She saw Beth's face change and noticed she was looking past her. She turned around and gasped and forgot to keep moving so she didn't fall underneath the water. She slipped under the water, but a hand reached for her arm and pulled her up.

She started coughing and reached out to get a hand on something that turned out to be Chase's arm.

                "You okay?" He asked her.
