I walk’d down in vain,

Above the fading lane,

Under the beating rain,

With an umbrella above me head,

Down the fadin’ lane I sped,

With two missing shoe,

I said to home, Adieu!

I saw a figure missin' fr’m my bed,

Cuz’ down the fading lane I tread!

With a missing tog,

I go down lane,

Kissing the mornin' fog,

Hello,

I wrote this in one hour.

I wanted to ask my fellow writers - how much time does it take them to write a short poem?

This was really good! In fact this was probably the only poem I have read on this site that sounds positive. You know, this would make a catchy jingle.

To answer your question, I don't think it should matter the time it takes to write a short poem. It could be four lines short, but have the greatest meaning to it which would have taken plenty of time. Or maybe it's the matter on saying what is on your mind at the moment which could take ten minutes or less even.

But other than that, your poem was great. the happiness was shown through how it would be spoken or just the events taking place. The poem reminds me of a quote, "If you think sunshine is happiness, then you've never danced in the rain."

cheerful

hi! nishant

its an extremely cheerful poem. i felt like dancing in the rain.

by the way, it doesn't matter what length of time went into composing a literary piece of art. what matters is how long it stays with the readers.

good work. lol. ;-)

Nice

Especially fer yer first run at Poetry.

I generally can write a rhyming Poem in about five to ten minutes.

Those are the easy ones.

Now free verse I struggle a bit with because there are juss too many variables and I am constantly nit picking at them until I either ruin me verse and scrap it or work at it juss long enough, about twenty to thirty minutes until I happy.

Now me free verses go fer a spell, it like without the lyrical beats I have a hard time realizing when it is complete because I somewhat abstract Poet fer most part so without the structured rhymes a lot of times I need feel whole after I do with me rhymes.

I hope yer continue writing Poetry, this pretty cool here.

Keep well,

'Anna

writing poetry, it takes me as long as I can type— and that takes longer than i can think. i never force my mind to create a new poem.. i wait for my mind to compel me to write and when it does, i hand it a pen and watch as i smoke a cigarette.
