Second to second
My God to beseech
My life to give
Your lives to save

 Minute to minute
My guard never falls
My gun be ready
My country to steady

 Hour to hour
My body becomes weary
No bed in which to sleep to catch
Only in the sun, brief naps to snatch

Day to day
My country to serve
I shall never, hate, fear
For my God is with me here

Week to week
My family I call
My absence does their hearts rend,
But their love they still send

Month to month
I visit my home.
Loyal hands do I shake,
My heart hate does break.

Year to year,
My duty to fulfill
Shall I home come?
Or shall I rest in Arlington?

War to war,
I, like many, have gone.
I will go for you,
Happy to live, or die, for the Red, White, and Blue.
