Morpheus Dreaming

Pain relief
morphs me
into another time

where waves of nausea
sorrow and anxiety
wash through my mind
like time-released rainfall.

This highly effective
opiate
manages pain
in a superior fashion
while at the same time
slyly working
upon dependency.

It's got me
no longer
wanting to dream,
but sometimes
when tiredness overcomes,
Morpheus visions
fill my head
with vivid unease
and restlessness.

When chemo-therapy
is finished
and dreams return
to normality,
I hope my pain relief
hasn't left me
crushed
like dry poppy-straw.

You have such an excellent poetic way at looking at some very sad topics, morphein (im assuming) addiction being something that is easily aquired and honestly quite scary.

God of Dreams

He and I are inseparable anymore it seems.

But the drug itself and me worries of becoming dependent, I am monitoring mainly by frequently asking them to alternate different forms of pain medication

I am not really one who is extremely susceptible to addictions, I seldom have a glass a wine even, as I like to keep me weird head juss as it is, it's comfortable, but I am not ignorant either (I do like me coffee) to the body's naturally ability to become physically dependant upon a chemical substance, especially something like Morphine, I mean, they do make heroine out of the stuff.

But the Sandman knows what a scary girl I can be, so he's been lettin' me keep one eye open on me situation regarding me pain meds, and sometimes I'm still able to write something relevant in me journal.

Thanks fer readin', I appreciate yer kind comments and support Dirkin.

I getting the feeling that your poems, which are excellant, are coming from a very personal place. I am sometimes not the sharpest tack in the box. If I am correct, you'll be in my prayers. If I am not correct, I have to say you are an excellant poet either way!
