It was one boring thursday. Well, what else is new, life is getting more and more boring everyday. I checked the time, I still have less than an hour before i could hit the road and go home. And it's not as if I can't wait to go home. I have nothing to do there either. I tried to while my time browsing my mailbox, then it caught my eyes. The email was dated two days ago, came from the HR department - a training invitation. I check my calendar, looks like the training fits my schedule. I scroll the page down then click 'sign up'. Training day. I can see a beautiful day ahead. I won't be doing any report today, no clients to deal with, no nosey manager around...I should sign up to HR training more often! There are about twenty seats in the room and few seats are still vacant, it was a small group of participants. I look around hoping to see familiar faces and i have found one. A face that was too familiar. I realized the moment I saw him that he wasn't one of the trainees. So, the HR commissioned new training center this time, I thought. This will be no ordinary day i'm sure. Why, not everyday i get to attend to a training facilitated by my ex! Technically, we didn't broke off. A friend once advised me that I should talk to him. Put closure to our story once and for all. I know that was just reasonable but I really have the tendency to be unreasonable at times. So I did it the way I thought was easy. I just disappeared. No explanations. The training was something about increasing one's effectivity. On one part where he was discussing the importance of planning, everyone shared why it was difficult for them to stick to things that are planned. When it was my turn to speak i just said: 'because I find it hard to commit'. He simply nod and said: 'I see, so you have a problem with commitment'. He went on, but not before I saw something crossed his eyes- pain.
I grab my things to go home. Before I locked my drawer, I had a glimpse of some pale yellow envelopes. I don't have to open them to see what's inside - wedding invitations that will no longer be distributed. Copyright 2008 Ma. Klara |
