The sun was finally about to set on what seemed like a perfect day.
Waves were splashing against the dark rocks and the sky was colored in a form of orange.
The little girl stretched out her hand so that she could feel the cool ocean below her.
"It's so beautiful." she said to herself. Suddenly she began to hear light footsteps
coming from behind her, they sounded far too light to be from a man, the little girl
thought to herself. Her hunch was correct, it was a young red-headed woman(more than
likely in her early twenties) The woman walked up closely and bent down so that she
could touch the girl's shoulder. She felt the little girl's soft blonde hair tickle her nose.
"You like looking at the ocean?" she asked. The little girl smiled at the woman sweetly.
"Its one of my favorite things to look at, do you want to watch it with me?" The woman
stared at her for a brief moment. "It's getting a little late now, maybe you should head
home." The little girl sat back away from the rocks. "Home..." she whispered.
She then turned back and faced the woman again, this time her smile began to fade.
"I don't have one.""Huh?" "I don't have a home, or even a family." The little girl
swallowed something in her throat. The woman started to realize that she should have never
said that to the girl.

"There's an orphanage that's not very far from here, if you want, I could take you there.
I'm sure that there's someone who might be able to help you." At an instant she began to
think that she might be making things worse, she certainly hoped not.
With a sudden burst of optimisim-the girl got up and hugged the stranger. The woman felt
relieved, almost obligated to do such an act of charity. Everything seemed to be shaping up
for the girl. The orphanage decided to keep her, and now she has a home to go to. She also
wanted to stay in touch with the woman who saved her, and within time they became friends.
One day the woman decided to pay a visit to the orphanage after work. She drove back to the
same route, waved 'hello' to the same people around her neighborhood. As she passed through
the highway, she began to smell smoke in the air of the city. A large cloud covered half of
the city and seemed almost endless. Horrible thoughts rushed into the woman's mind.
"What if its the girl?! What if she's in trouble?!" She hit the gas extremely hard like a
police car in a high-speed chase. She didn't care or even paid attention to all the
redlights she was passing. As soon she approached the scene, her face twisted in horror to
see the orphanage being burned to ashes. "Oh my God, what have I done?!" she yelled.
"I should have never taken her there! I should have left things the way they were!"
she cried loudly and buried her mouth in her hands.

Suddenly she woke up! She was safe, covered warmly in her bed. It was just a dream. As she
got out of bed-she caught sight of the calendar. By god! It was dated months before the
incident, could it be wrong? She looked at the time, it read 3:15 p.m., the same time she
went to the beach and met the girl! She tried to do the exact same thing and went to the
beach. There she was, an innocent blonde haired little girl reaching over the rocks trying
to touch the water. She ran as fast as she could to her. The little girl turned around and
smiled sweetly, the same as she did in the dream. As she was trying to catch her breath,
the woman tried to speak. "Are you....(breathes loudly)..homeless?!" Then the little girl's
smile left her face. "Homeless? I'm not homeless. I'm here on vacation with my Mommy and
Daddy." The woman began to laugh, she started thinking that this was just some crazy
coincidence. Boy, was her face red!

Without even saying anything she drove back home, she felt like a complete idiot,
asking some random girl if she was homeless, all because of some dream. She stopped her car
in a corner to a redlight. She looked both ways and saw that there was no car in sight.
She thought "Oh, why not just drive pass this light, not like I'm going to get a ticket."
So she did, but then something broke the silence..it was the horn of a semi-truck driving at
a dangerous speed! She didn't see it smash through the side of her car. The impact sent her
car rolling over several yards away. She screamed loudly hoping that someone would save her.

Then she woke up once again, it was another dream, again she woke up safely in her bed. She didn't bother to read the calandar this time, instead she just went to the kitchen and served herself a hot cup of coffee to calm her nerves. "Two nightmares in one day." she sighed. She finally took a small sip and got ready for work. Today was the day she finally got her weekly paycheck, she couldn't wait for the day to end. She heard a light knock on the door, it wasn't a very good time to have company, she thought to herself. If its a billcollector, he or she will have to wait till later. The knocks continued and started to sound more impatiantly now. She took her time and slowly, casually opened the door. It was her again! The little girl from her dream! She thought twice about what she was going to say, but then she remembered the outcome of the dream. "Yes?" she murmured softly. The little girl coughed and said "I'm trying to raise money for the orphanage, downtown. Would you like to buy some cookies?" "Cookies, huh?" said the woman.

She looked to the right, then to the left. She suddenly smiled at the girl and reached for something in her pocket. The little girl started to smile back, she hoped that it was money. Then the woman said "Little girl." "Yes?" "You and your little orphanage, can go burn in hell for all I care!" The smile left the girl's face as quickly as it entered. "That's right, you snotty little brat! You're not going to fool me again this time!" she slammed the door and went back to what she was doing. The little girl felt sad that she didn't get what she needed, but somehow kept some of her smile. A man in a dark suit was waiting for her around the  corner of the street. He saw that she was empty handed and nodded his head in dissapointment. "Don't worry, we'll try again tomorrow, after all; she can't hide from us for all eternity."

I like this, you write very well... if you ask me though, you should remove the reference at the end of a girl ghost, and have the point of the story be more about the dream and its abstract premonition of danger. The ending didn't sit well with me, but the story was well told

I guess it ended abruptly fro me. She died, a description of cause, and no more. Thinking... maybe work the girl that died in the orphanage into the story earlier or throughout and have the only revelation at the end be she did it. Great story idea, writing was engaging.

I thought there was something out of place about it but I just couldn't put my finger on it. Thanks for the advice, wish I could change it back to the old ending I was originally going to put, but alas, too little, too late.
