Your world is one of darkness.

At first you hoped full heartedly that someone would rescue you from this "lifestyle." After years of looking for the answer day after day, your heart begins to become shallow. The hope is replaced with something less; you fill the void with any temporary pleasure. Any action is taken to keep the mind off of the truth, the sad truth of being alone, and hopeless.

Many times you think you've found it; the "it" that is needed to release from the darkness. All too many times you find that what you thought would help, doesn't.    And what you think you need, you don't. No matter how hard you try, you're always moving backward.

This is deeply confusing because if you don't know, who does? Shouldn't there be someone who knows? Maybe you're just doomed to live an unsatisfying life, but no, that doesn't feel right.

So you continue to guess at the key, testing your theories. After awhile, the dreams are shattered again.

Obviously, none of this is working. It seems every option has been tried, with no success. Maybe it's time to give up, fate has played its hand...

"No!"

What? Who is that? What do they mean, "no?"

"There is no such thing as fate."

No fate? Then what is the key you're missing?

"Every choice made changes something. Choose my help and all the darkness and demons will be chased away."

What an offer. But who are they? Why would they want to help you? You want so bad to grasp the deal, but you're so used to failing; choosing the wrong path. What's the point of chasing another false promise?

"Trust me."

The words have meaning behind them. They aren't empty and dry like the ones you're used to hearing. This isn't a lie. What have you got to lose anyway? Confident of your choice, you nod. Of course you're unsure of what happens next, but you're also eager to find out.

Suddenly, just as fast as the knight in shining armor appeared to rescue you, you're yanked out of the world of blackness and into a world of light that is a sweet unfamiliar to you.

The odd thing is that you're in the same place, the surroundings haven't changed; the view of it has. You feel safety and security, and you know you can confide in your new friend, who has just become a lifelong one. The most extreme difference between a mere moment ago and now is the almost overwhelming sense of joy; not happiness, for happiness fades in minutes, but overflowing joy. The sensation is so exquisite you could cry, and you're pretty sure you are.

All the time, effort and mistakes that it took to get here was all a big waste of time, effort and mistakes.

The answer was always there, but you realize you were looking for the wrong thing, in the wrong way. However, that fact doesn't hold any significance, because what was lost is now found. In reality, you were the piece that was lost.

The negativity of the old place is far behind you, and there's a whole new area to explore. Moving foreword.
