Image

Her hands on heavy hips, she straightens
her apron and watches knowingly
as Mr. Hampton tries to catch a pea
with a shaky fork.

From the pea to her face he looks,
feels the flush liven dead cheeks,
and remembers every single weight
he’s ever had to lift.

Aye

Unfortunately I can relate with Mr. Hampton's frustration, it's truly maddening to be looked at like that.

Yer've captured a lot here , yer effectual handling of yer words indeed has produced a laconic verse very rich in content.

Impressive to say the least.

Take care,

'Anna

I found this poem sad, good, but sad, which is good, not that being sad is good, but writing sad is good, so yes, it was good.
