Pick her up you silly boy, Shiv’s mum told him. I am fine; I am just fine pushing him away. Please just leave me alone for a while and I will be just fine, I told them. They were shocked with my attitude, as I had never spoken to them with such anger in my voice. I gathered myself had a hot shower and went to the kitchen. I told you sister, heard Shiv’s mum telling my mum, that we should have just got these two together ages ago, wonder what’s wrong with your daughter, she is acting all very strange. I am not acting strange aunty, I said firmly as I entered the kitchen, I just travelled miles and miles and I am just tried and I hate everyone around me treating like a baby. Everyone felt the anger and the desperation in my voice and I told them to let me stay in peace and not to bother me and I would just be fine.
We were thinking since you here for the next few days why don’t you and Shiv get engaged? I nearly choked on coffee, engaged to that silly Shiv, I told them and saw Shiv dashing towards me. I thought you just said I love you to me upstairs, he said. Wow that, I said with some concern in my voice I was sleeping, I might have said something silly in my sleep and everyone burst into laughter. But nah seriously I am not getting engaged till I finish my project in Lumley and that is another 4 and half years to go. Oh my god I heard Shiv’s mum go is this girl crazy, just get engaged now and on your next visit we can have the wedding and since Shiv is also a qualified guru like you he can join you at Lumley. Ridiculous idea this stupid woman has, I thought to myself and they were not giving up on me so easily.
Time just seemed to have flown. Driving back to Lumley was an ugly experience. Why the hell is this village so damn far from my place I kept thinking? The maid was sitting on the steps eagerly waiting for my return. Thank god madam that you are here. I was really worried about you and San has made several rounds just to see whether you were back. Yea San I thought to myself, I forgot to mention to him that I will be away, never mind if you see him tell him that I am back but tell him not to come home as I am tired and I have to prepare for school tomorrow. I quickly went inside the house making sure I didn’t see San around.
Next day at the school the rest of the colleagues couldn’t help noticing the shiny and glittery ring on my finger. So you finally joined our club of married people, they teased me all afternoon. I laughed and brushed their comments away. Gave a slight glance at the ring and thought about Shiv. Shiv is just another guy I thought. I had known him for ages but thinking about him didn’t give me the shivers as thinking about San did. The day seemed to be never ending. Heaps of thoughts were rushing through my head and I just wanted to go home and sleep. You can go home early today, I told the maid as soon as I got home. I am tired and I am going off to bed and I will get up later in the night and have my dinner. I will be fine I assured her as I saw her going by.
It seemed I had slept for ages. I woke up around 8 and rushed to have my shower. Since there was no electricity in the village I left the lamp on the porch and I took a candle to the bathroom. I wrapped the huge towel around me and as I walked back to the house, with one hand holding onto the towel and the other the candle, I felt someone grabbing me from behind. In haste I dropped the candle and before I could shout a hand covered my mouth. Don’t shout please don’t shout I heard a familiar voice and he let his hands off my mouth. What you doing here San I said angrily. You left without saying anything and I was worried and I wanted to see you, he said still standing at my back and his arms around my body. Just leave me please just let me and go I begged him and as he loosened the grip of his arms I ran back inside. He picked up the lamp and followed me inside.
San you have to leave, I told him. I don’t want any villagers to see this and make our lives miserable. Our, said San since when did you and I become we. I looked at him with tears rolling down my eyes and saw him coming towards me. He held onto me for a while and started kissing me again and I was not stopping him. He stopped and pushed me back, why are we doing this he asked. Why do I loose my senses whenever I see you and you being so smart and intelligent why can’t you just stop me, he begged falling down on his knees. I need you to go, please just go and don’t you ever come back to my house again I told him. And before you go I need to tell you something, I am engaged and in few months time I might even get married and whatever happened between was just a mistake, do you understand San, just a mistake.
It was a terrible night to be alone, it seemed all the dogs in Lumley were barking non-stop and the rain was just pouring down. I did not see San for the rest of the week, it was such a relieve. The school was picking up fine and few of Tapa kids had joined in too. Whenever I saw the kids from Tapa shivers ran through my body as they reminded me of what I did when I was returning from their village The government sent me another request to go back to Tapa and urge the parents to send their over kids. I needed San to help me with this so in the afternoon I took a walk to his house. His grandparents were so amazed to see me as if a fairy had just landed into their compound. San has gone out to gather the cows and goats from the farm as we have lock them up every night they told me. We don’t want the animals destroying anyone’s farm while we are sleeping peacefully in the house. They asked if I wanted tea but I offered to go to the kitchen and make it myself.
When I came out with the tea, San walked in and I offered him my tea. He just gave me a fake smile and drank his tea while I sat opposite him chatting to his grandparents. We want San to settle down quickly, they said so that we all can have tea like this made by his wife and they burst into laughter. It won’t be any ordinary girl, San interfered, I will marry a princess from far away and I won’t like it if you guys get her to make tea. His grandmother swore at him and continued with the tea. San can you take me to Tapa on Saturday if you are free, I asked. That’s fine he said and please be ready around 6 so that we are there early and you get the whole day to mingle with them. I don’t go there to mingle I corrected him, I just go there to urge the parents to send the kids to school. You right interrupted his grandmother and wonder if all kids in Lumley and Tapa would do cheeky talks like San once they know bit of English, she joked.
It was a cold Saturday morning and riding the horse to Tapa was freezing. My hands were cold and I was shivering as I held onto San’s knitted soft sweater. He slipped his hands and touched my hands and told me to hold his tee shirt underneath the sweater so that my hands get warm, I did as I was told. I asked him to stop but we are nearly there he said but I want to get off and walk for a while I told him as my back was hurting due to the galloping of the horse. He got down and held his hands out for me and I held onto them tightly and got off. How have you been, I finally managed to ask him. Good actually better he replied and kept walking ignoring me. That’s good I told him and stood at one spot while he kept walking. He turned around and walked towards me and blew the hair out of my face, why is your hair always covering your beautiful hazel eyes he asked. I tried not to look at him and moved from the spot.
It was very quite in Tapa for a Saturday. I visited heaps of people at their home and even dared to go to the market and talk to the parents there who had their kids busy selling vegetables. They once again agreed that they would come down and see me at school on Monday. I also managed to have few forms completed there and I was very happy with the outcome. We stopped to have few bites at a local canteen and had coconut water on the way. As we rode along we passed the river where once San and I had a swim. Do you remember this place, San asked and I pretended that I was fast asleep on his back, holding his tee shirt firmly. After some time he stopped and we got off at a huge mango tree. Can you wait while I get some mango he said, grandmother wants to make some pickles. That sounds very delicious I told him and I lay on the ground to rest my back while he climbed the tree to get the mangoes.
I had only closed my eyes to avoid dust getting in but I think I feel asleep. San threw a mango at me to wake me up and when I opened my I eyes I saw him sitting next to me enjoying the mangoes, you want some he asked. Nah thanks as I will get the juice all over my hands and I don’t see a river nearby where I can wash them. Let’s walk a bit and you will see a river just after these tress and if you had not snored that much we could have heard the river. I looked at him angrily and started walking towards the river. The water was amazing, I washed my hands and asked San for a mango and he threw the mango in the water; go get it if you want to eat. Without thinking I pulled my sweater and top off pulled down my pants and jumped in the water in the vest and tights I was wearing inside.
San stood at the river bank and watched me swim to the mango, don’t go too deep he yelled but before I knew as which side was deep I tried to stand but I went right inside the water. Water rushed inside my body through my mouth and nose and I started to gasp for air. Suddenly I felt something on my legs and I realised I was stuck to some twigs in the water. I could only hear splashes and next thing I knew was San holding tightly on hands and pulling me out. I could feel the twigs cutting through my veins. What the hell you think you doing, he shouted once we were safely at the riverbank. I told you not to go there but his yelling stopped when he saw blood running freely off my legs. He quickly gathered some leaves squeezed them in his hands and rubbed them on the cut to stop the bleeding. I could see he was shaking; shaking in fear if he had not been there I would have been dead by now. I wiped the water or was it sweat from his forward and he looked up at me. I am ok, I told him, I am just fine but he was not stopping.
There was a sweet concern on his face, which made my heart skip few beats. I again wiped the water from his forehead and ran my hands into his smooth hair. He stopped and looked towards me and before we knew we were passionately kissing each other as I laid on the grass with him over me. My hands were all over his body, I just wanted to rip him out of his clothes and feel him inside. A certain urge of sex ran through my body and I ran my hands on his body with all my might, he gave a small cry of pain. I stopped and pushed him off and noticed that my ring had given him a small cut on his back. Thank you he said, thanks for what I asked trying not to look at him again, thank you for the gift you just gave me, this cut on my body is the sign that you love me and want me as much as I want you.
I turned around to look at him and he caught me by surprise. He pushed me on the grass and we kissed passionately for a very long time. While kissing him I pulled the ring out so that I didn’t hurt him again. I pulled his pants off and got up so that he could take off my clothes and I lay next to him naked on the green grass. He pulled his shirt over me so that no one else could see me laying like that but just him and he kissed me all over my body. He sucked on my nipples and licked and sucked on my pussy. He came up again and started kissing me on my lips while using his hands parted my legs. He was hard and he tried to push his manhood inside me but my body had become hard in pain not allowing him to push any further. Please let me go inside you he urged and as he tried once more but I turned around in pain and before I knew he entered me through my anal. I could feel terrible pain and I curled my body. The position I was in made it easier for him to enter my anal few more times while I lay there nearly out of conscious in pain. He stopped when he realised I had started to bleed and lay next to me breathing heavily.
I walked into the river naked and stood there for long. The warm water made me feel better and I just immersed my whole body in the water. When I came out I saw San standing with my clothes in his hands. I went out and got dressed and we started walking towards the horse and I realised I had not picked my ring. It was getting bit dark and it was hard to locate the ring in the long grasses. San was trying his best to locate the ring and after sometime he found it and he slipped the ring in my finger and my arms went around him and he held onto me tightly. I love you he whispered and kissed me on my forehead. I held his hands and we started walking back to the horse.
It was a long and painful ride back and I kept wondering if the bleeding had stopped. We were shocked to see so many candles and lamps burning at my place. It’s not our festival of lights yet San said and I pinched him on his tummy. Don’t do that as you have very long nails and if you do that again I will push you off the horse but I pinched him again. San got off and tied the horse and held both his arms to get me down; I will get her down, we heard a voice and we both turned towards the voice and I saw Shiv coming towards me with a huge smile. I reached and held his shoulders while he held on to my hips and got me to the ground. He gave a kiss and hugged and cuddled me like a baby, I love you wife he said and kept repeating it. I was shocked and lost for words, as I didn’t know he would be coming down to the village without even informing me.
He held out his hands towards San and they shook hands and Shiv quickly took me inside even before I could thank San for taking me to Tapa. What you doing here in Lumley I asked Shiv. Just don’t ask he said just don’t ask, he said, I had a bad dream about you and I told everyone that I was going down to see you and he held onto me and kissed me. I pushed him away; do you mind bringing all the candles in, I don’t want you to burn the house down, while I go and have my shower, I told him and walked away. I just wanted to go away from him as I didn’t want him to smell me as I smelt like San. Just leave one candle for me to take that to the bathroom I yelled from my room; how about I hold to the candle while you shower, Shiv said in a very cheeky voice. I faked a laughed and took the candle and went out to shower. How do you even live here, I could hear him complaining about the roads, the people and everything he could think of while I was cleaning myself up, and why the hell it takes ages for girls to shower.
Just shut up Shiv, why do you have to nag about everything, I asked him as I walked back to the house and he followed me in. I will get the dinner ready and you go and wear something sexy he teased me. I smacked him hard on his head and ran fast into my room and closed the door before he could catch me. Before dinner he cleaned the wound and placed some band-aid on it. I told him I got the cut at Tapa when I went to the market. The dinner was nice and I loved his company as I always longed to have someone during dinnertime so that I could discuss about my day. I had difficulty sitting and when Shiv asked what was wrong I told him my back was sore because of the 5-hour horse ride.
After dinner Shiv started his naggings again but he said he liked the maid very much and thought he had fallenl in love with her, we both laughed about it. Can I sleep with you tonite he asked as I was getting his sleeping gear ready and I looked at him with lots of anger in my eyes. Hey wife just cool down he said laughing I just wanted to share the bed and I promise I won’t touch you and you know I want the honeymoon to be special. I smiled and told him to behave and get into the bed. We fell asleep talking about everyone back at home.
Felt Shiv shaking me, hey get up, get up silly wife. Shiv, I shouted, just let me sleep go get breakfast ready but Shiv was not giving up. He pulled me out of the bed and took me to the mirror; look at yourself just look at us he demanded. What’s wrong Shiv stop this riddle what you want, I asked him. Damn he said don’t you know what happened he demanded. We slept together for the first time and you didn’t even bother to make love to me, me, Shiv the most popular, rich and educated man you would find in Lumley. I looked at him slapped him hard on his head and ran back to the bed and Shiv jumped into the bed and tickled me till I was about to cry and begged him to stop.
He sat on the bed, resting his back on the wall and pulled me towards him, and asked do you really want to marry me, he said. Do you really, really love me and do you think you can spend the rest of your life with me. You have known me forever and I can tell that you were not happy seeing me neither were you happy at the engagement. You are so silly, I said to him getting out of the bed, but he pulled me back in and got over me, I love you he said I just love you too much and the least you can do is pretend that you happy with me, he said and started kissing me. his kisses were just kisses, it was not the same as San’s I thought. I pushed him away and we both got up to shower and have breakfast.
As I opened the door saw San walking through the gate. Shiv, as any protective husband to be, held me backs and went in front to greet him and as he went pass he whispered, your gown is open can you tie them please. I smiled and worked on my gown and I looked at San. My grandparents heard that you are in the village and they have sent some fresh fruits, vegetables and eggs for you and he looked at me and turned his face around. Shiv laughed and joked to him that since nothing happened last night between us he had all the energy and he could do without the extra protein San had to offer. I quickly interfered and told San Shiv was a jerk and talks without thinking. Shiva had to leave that afternoon so after breakfast I took him around to show the village.
That night as I lay in the bed and thought about Shiv and San. I was ruining Shiv’s life by not telling him the truth about San and me. I was madly in love with San but I didn’t know how to tell him. The way San looked and touched me gave shivers to my body while Shiv was just an ordinary person. How can I marry Shiv when I was in love with San? And now that I had slept with San, I wanted more of him, I wanted him by my side, that night and every night I could think of!
