In the hectic, busy, and huge place of New York City, there lived a 7 year old girl named Suzzy. You know what would fill her up with loveliness, happiness, and joy ? O.K, I don’t think this is what you or I would have expected. She was obsessed with anything that was fuzzy. She only had 2 reasons why. One of them was because she loved to feel the soft, soothing, 100% polyester skin of the fuzzy object. The 2nd reason was because Suzzy had the same ending as the word fuzzy.
One day Suzzy went with her Mom to the store to get some things for her house for decorations, like candles and picture frames ‘n all that boring stuff. 20 minutes later, Suzzy’s Mom said “ Ahh yes I need to get a picture frame for the bathroom.” Mom exclaimed. It appeared that to get to that certain area they had to pass through the TOYS aisle. Suzzy could live in this aisle day and night herself! FUZZY ALERT!!! Suzzy thought. She wanted to shout this out loud in public, but she knew she couldn’t. So everything was still silent. Her wide eyes beamed at the fuzzy toys. Suzzy’s dream come true was right here, in the aisle of toys. But Suzzy remembered her polite manners, and didn’t ask for anything. It was so hard to keep her mouth shut, but she managed to keep it zipped.
Suzzy was relieved when she and her mom came home, because now Suzzy wouldn’t be in Dreamland with mom trying to drag her through the TOYS aisle. Silently they ate dinner. Then it was time to go to bed. Suzzy had a little brother but they couldn’t share a bed because Suzzy had not 1 nor 2, but 100 fuzzy toys that filled the bed. Suzzy would be broken hearted if she lost 1 single toy, or forced to throw 1 away. Now you probably know how much she loves fuzzy things.
Many months passed and today is Suzzy’s birthday party!!! She invited lots of friends to come. Mom didn’t have a single phone call from any of Suzzy’s friends because they all knew what she loved as a present.
Want me to tell you a secret? Actually they didn’t know what she liked they had a different gift in mind.
“CAKE TIME!” shouted mom happily to Suzzy and her friends. “YAY!” they all shouted back. When the cake was all finished, they played a few games, and then it was time to open presents! This was Suzzy’s favorite part of her party. “Open mine first! No open mine!” Everyone exclaimed. To make it fair, she closed her eyes and picked one. This present was from one of her school friends. In the gift bag, Suzzy pulled out something hard. Just by feeling this she knew it wasn’t the perfect present for her. She got a small box that had earrings and a matching necklace. She forced herself to smile politely and say thank you. After 6 more gifts she still hadn’t gotten anything fuzzy. She thought it was not going well so far. What if she didn’t get any fuzzy things? Now she was going to open the last present. She reached inside the bag… Noooooooooo! Suzzy thought. Suzzy had tears in her eyes but she held them back. It was a board game. They spent a few extra minutes of party time talking. Then it was time to leave. Suzzy’s friends left with their goodie bags. She was still very sad.
Mom took her into her room and told her to close her eyes tightly. She heard mom open the closet and take something out. Suzzy felt like there were butterflies in her tummy… in a good way! “Open your eyes now!” Mom said. She opened her eyes and screamed “THANK YOU!” Suzzy’s throat hurt from screaming so loud! Mom gave her a little machine were you put fuzz in the odd machine and hit a button and it makes a stuffed toy! She was overjoyed! That day Suzzy promised that she wouldn’t ALWAYS wish for fuzzy things.
