Who is that girl?

The one who stares back

from the mirror?

Does she think suicide?

Has she ever slit her wrists?

Never again will she stoop so low.

I take a step into the dark

trying to get to know her.

but she’s afraid to come out

be known.

People don’t know her anymore

don’t even know she exists.

that she’s been in hiding for years.

They need to take a step into the

darkness with me.

Lead me down that narrow, overgrown path

in search of what I could be.

Will people judge that free spirit?

Is that why she’s so hesitant?

She doesn’t understand that those people don’t matter

and those who do will love her

for everything she is.
