PREFACE:

I tried not to express too much angst in this poem, I tried to take an outsiders view on things and more or less just describe the process in a poetic way.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He can make the mountains give way, my ignorant little friend.
Nobody doubts such feats; they do not say its pretend.
He can steer a train with only his vows.
The thoughts of the public he shall always arouse.
And he joins members of his faction on the field of combat.
Where each one pulls exaggerated lies from his big hat.
They throw their best shots at the issues of the day.
Yet everyone believes everything that they say.
And the weeks of redemption follow soon after.
Several of them retire with a bit of laughter.
But the lucky bunch stay in the game
By now everybody is a aware of their name.
There is one last battle; only one is the victor.
They take hold of one idea like a boa constrictor.
With insults, other opinions they diminish.
And with their pit crews, they race to the finish.
One comes out the winner of it all.
With confidence to say they had won the bloody brawl.
They reign almighty champion for the next four years.
There will be another battle yet, so ready your spears!
....
Very nice. I'll share it with some political junky friends of mine; tell then this dude Nate Stanford captured what we debate for hours into a poem. Now, can you write one that captures the essence of what the winner does with his time during those next four years?
