"That nightmare, the lightning strike, was from it." Jack whispered to himself as his thought about his still-vivid nightmare.
"Hel-"
"Alright, man, I'm on my way right now. What's wrong anyway?" "I can't tell you over the phone just come on over now" "Okay. I'm getting in my car now." Jack said as he hung up the phone and started his car. Something is not right this feels very wrong. Blayne has never been this serious before. Jack thought as he sped through his neighborhood and into Blayne's driveway.
"Hurry, Jack," Blayne screamed as he was sprinting out of his house when Jack opened his door. "Okay, okay, just chill out Blayne," Jack calmly said as they ran into the house and saw the TV. "You know I never watch the presidential debate. I think politics suck and are filled with liars, but as I was flipping through the channels I saw," Blayne shuddered badly and pointed at the TV, "him!" "God save us," Jack silently said not caring who heard it. "Too late, brother." It was the dark man from his nightmares, the one from Sally's and, now, from Blayne's. He was standing behind a podium giving a counter argument about stem cell research to Hillary Clinton, the candidate for the next presidential election. By the looks of Hillary, who is now wiping the sweat that had been gathering up on her brow, she was losing the debate. The crowd supporting her was fidgeting and many were getting up and leaving the room, shaking their heads in disgrace and embarrassment. "Well... the uh... stem cell research has found... many ways to... I can't do this anymore!" Hillary yelled as she ran away from the podium and off camera. The TV screen went into a blue background and a man's voice said something about technical difficulties. "That's the guy from-" "My nightmares," Jack whispered cutting Blayne off. "He's been in your nightmares too?" "Yes, I never thought he was a real just like a real life Freddy Krueger." "We have to go, now!" "No need to tell me twice," Jack stammered as he reached for his keys. "We'll take my car it'll kill yours any day." "Always have to be a complete douche bag, huh?" "Ha! Ha! Ha! You know it is true." "Alright hold-" Just then Jack's cell phone rang. "Hello?" A sinister voice just said four words, "Check your e-mail, now!" And silence. Looking at his phone in disbelief, Jack was speechless. Then he sprinted past Blayne and went to Blayne's computer. From the computer Jack checked his e-mail and there was an e-mail from Sally's e-mail. When Jack clicked on it, there was a link that said "Click here." Jack clicked on it when was taken to a webcam chat. In the background he could see flood lights places on poles in a circle around what looked like a pole surrounded by wood. There was someone tied to the pole but Jack couldn't make out who it was. The sinister voice came out of the computer's speakers. "Welcome Jack! Soon we will be having a great bonfire that will destroy your emotional life and hopefully make you into a wreck so when I come after you; you will be easy to kill. Behind me is your one and only love, Sally. I plan on killing her tonight and making you watch." The camera zoomed on the person tied to the pole and it was Sally, her mouth was taped shut. "This isn't happening. There is no way this is happening, Blayne," Jack muttered. "It is, man. You have to do something now!" "No you can't do anything, you leave now I'll kill not only Sally but all your friends and family," the sinister voice said. "I know when you leave, Jack, I know where you always are." "What's that?" Blayne pointed to the screen and rain was pouring all over the stake and Sally, drenching the wood and making an eerie glow from the flood lights. "Ha! Ha! What now!" "Oh darn. What a shame. Eh, no problem, I have a back up plan." The sinister voice said in excitement. On the video a person walks into the frame, he is wearing a black trench coat and a fedora with his head down low so he won't be noticed. In his right head something shined in the light and Jack immediately noticed it was a knife. "NOOO!!" Jack roared. "Oh yes, Jack!" The man ripped off the tape and said, "Any last words, my dear?" Sally screamed, "JACK THE MAN IS JIM!!!! IT'S JIM!!!!" "You *****!" Jim yelled and smacked Sally. "For your stupidity I shall kill you now!" "JACK! I LOVE THEE!" Sally screamed as Jim took his knife and slit her throat. "I... love... you... always." With one last breath Sally died. "SALLY NOOOO!!!!! Please God no no no this can't be happening," Jack pleaded, his words slurred as tears ran down his face. He looked at the screen, at his love now perished; his eyes were a moss green but with fire in them filled with hatred and fury. "I will kill you Jim, on Sally's blood I will kill you!" "Let the chase begin," Jim said and the screen went black along with the whole house as the electricity had been cut. Jack turned to Blayne, who had already gotten every weapon he had and put them in two duffel bags. "You know we could die avenging Sally." "I'm with you to the death, Jack." "Alright. Let's go!" "What about the man from our dreams?" "There are more important matters right now!" With that Jack and Blayne ran out to Jack's car to begin the hunt. Copyright 2008 Steven Hofmann |
