"You are just another crazy person." Marcy said, laying her head back down. "Am I now?" The voice said very clearly. "You can talk normal?" Marcy said in a confused tone, raising her head up to look back at the figure. "Of course." The voice said. "Why were you talking so strange earlier?" "Haven't you heard this is a mental institution?" "Yes, I've heard that." Marcy stammered. "To be in a mental institution you must be crazy. If I don't play at it, then they will surely kill me." "But they were not in here when you came to talk to me." "This is true, but I could not quite trust you upon first meeting you." Marcy was not sure she understood but she tried to make sense of everything anyways. "Why did you say that you were Marcy Jenkins?" "Why?" the woman questioned, raising her brows. "Because I am her, I was the first anyways." "I'm not sure I understand." "You see," the woman said, as she came further across the floor and positioned herself onto Marcy's bed, "you are being replaced just as I was replaced many years ago. You get used to it I guess." Marcy still had a look of confusion on her face when the woman started talking again. "I was the original "Sissy Bess" from the popular soap opera "Loving time". I guess I became too old for the part because I was put into this place nearly 50 years ago. Just like you, I didn't want to except my fate and I fought. I soon realized just as you will that I had no choice, if I wanted to live I could no longer be Marcy Jenkins." "I don't understand." Marcy stated. "Why would they replace you?" The woman laughed, "Because they make to much money from Marcy Jenkins. The company of the soap opera has put out many lines of clothing, perfumes, magazines, makeup and jewelry. Whatever publicity that can come from "Marcy Jenkins" will be shelved for people to buy making the company richer. Marcy Jenkins had been young for 50 years, never gotten sick or hurt or of course that is what the company wants people to believe." "Over money?" questioned Marcy. "Of course, money is everything in this world." "You are ok with this?" "No of course not, but these people are dangerous. There is nothing that I can do to stop it." "But wait, they can't possibly find women who look exactly alike." "You are right." the women said, commonly. "So how are they getting away with it?" "I don't know." the woman said, simply. "I just don't know." "I think it's time to find out." Marcy said. "You are tied down, there is nothing that you can do." "I'll think of something." They looked toward the door as a nurse walked into the room. The woman hopped off the bed and winked at Marcy. "You's a pretty girls." "Tinks, how did you get in here? You are not supposed to leave your room. You better hurry up and get out of here before you are locked up again." "Oh yes madam's I was just telling the girls who I was." Both Marcy and the nurse watched as the little woman walked out of the room and closed the door behind her. "Well, it's time to take your medication." "I'm not taking anything." "Ok, doctor said you might say that." the nurse said, pulling a syringe from her pocket. "No, please not that. I will take the pills." "Good choice." the nurse said softly, replacing the needle back into her pocket. Marcy opened her mouth and the nurse dropped the pills in and then held the glass of water up to Marcy's face. "Look's as though you will work out just perfectly here." "That or die." Marcy muttered. The nurse shot her a look of shock. "I don't know what you are talking about." She then walked out the door leaving Marcy tied down to the bed. "It's not so bad here I guess." said the woman's voice from the wall. "You get used to it." "Can you take these pills?" Marcy asked. The woman walked from the shadows of the corner wall and neared toward Marcy. "I stash mine in the mattress, I'm sure yours will work just fine also." The woman grabbed the two white pills from Marcy's mouth and then took her fingernail and ripped a small whole in the mattress. "If you play along with them, you will be unchained." "I want out of here. I do not belong in this place." "Well who really does?" the woman questioned. "You could call this our destiny." "Are you kidding me? Do you honestly believe the things you are saying? We can get out of here, we could do it together." "No, no, there is nothing out there for me anymore. I am a washed up old woman." "But...--" Marcy started to say. "NO! NO! NO! WE CAN NEVER LEAVE THIS PLACE!!" "I don't understand."Marcy stared at the woman. The woman looked up at Marcy and smiled, "You see my dear, we can never leave this place because...... it does not even exist."
