THE EMPTY CHAIR

An empty chair sits in view,

never to be occupied,

but it's meant for you,

Basketball, volleyball, softball games,

picnics and banquets,

it's always the same,

I'm hopeful that one day,

you might show,

you never do,

but i never know,

An empty chair,

and an absent father,

one who doesn't care,

or even bother,

I was daddy's little girl,

through day and night,

or so i thought,

apparently i wasn't right,

You said you loved me,

and that you cared,

i highly doubt it,

since you're never there,

so in the corner,

the empty chair still sits,

vacant as ever,

as my heart tears to bits

Unfortunately, this happens too often. Moments you can never reclaim. I have a daughter and often think back to those days of watching her play soccer and stuff, and I always smile,,,take me back to those simple days,,,shes a teenager now. I sure hope this isnt a personal poem from you....thought it was really thought provoking...well done.

Great poem. Very sweet. I hope my daughter never has to experience anything like this....

Another event the same for me. I know how this can feel, and I feel as though this poem is based on realistic events. My father was never really there for me either. Even though this poem brings a sad tone, it still has a great meaning for it. Another one of yours I enjoyed.

That poor chair. All alone.

Another smooth flowing poem.

You did a good job portraying feelings.

No complaints from me.
