He looks at you, little girl.

You know he’ll be here in a second

if you look up.

Keep you head down, little girl.

If you show him your face,

he’ll see the fear in your eyes.

Stop shaking, little girl,

it won’t hurt that bad,

He didn’t gulp that last bottle of Bud.

Don’t cry, little girl.

The sting of his hand on your skin won’t last forever.

He’s hungry for those tears.

Close your eyes, little girl.

Your body is getting weak.

See that man, little girl?

He’s come to take you home.

You fought well, little girl.

Hauntingly sorrowful

This one cut deep when I read it.

Whew!

Words are trite when silent understanding is called for.

These kind of themes are depressing, sad and angry making. Good poem
