"Marcy?" said a shallow voice.

She opened her eyes and turned to look toward the door.

"Mom?"

"Hey sweetie, how are you feeling?"

"Oh mom, I had the most terrible dream."

"A dream?"

"Well it was more of a nightmare."

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"No, I am just so glad that are here with me."

"Where else would I be?" Marcy's mother said concerned for her daughter, coming closer and to her daughter's bedside.

"That's not important. I am just so glad I can see and touch you." Marcy exclaimed grabbing a hold of her mother's hand.

"Marcy sweetie-- are you ok?"

"I am wonderful mother." Marcy let out a huge sigh and looked around the room at all her beautiful flowers that lined the walls and her balloons that seem to competing for attention at her beside.

Her mother looked at her in utter shock, she had never seen her so brilliantly happy to be laying in a hospital bed and she had never felt her daughter claim her hand in an attempt for affection.

Suddenly, she looked back to her mother.

"I don't think I have asked yet, but who was my savior that night at the bridge?"

Marcy's mother gave a grimace look before answering.

"I don't know sweetie. They said he fled the scene shortly after ambulances arrived."

"Do you think it could have been Jesse?"

"Out of all the people who could have been there that night, do you really think it would have been Jesse?"

"Jesse is my everything; I would want it to be him."

"No doubt sweetie."

A knock at the door interrupted their conversation.

"Excuse me I just need to check-up on our fighting patient." said an older nurse with a grayish color of hair.

"Fighting? I don't know about that."

"I would call your attempt to fight death fighting."

Marcy's mother looked up at the nurse and gave her a look that told the nurse that Marcy did not know about her near crash with death.

"Oh I am so very sorry. I have overstepped my bounds."

"No, I should know. I mean shouldn't I have known this mother?"

"I wasn't going to hide it, I just hadn't told you yet because we were talking about other things."

Marcy looked at her mother while tears drew to her eyes.

"What happened?"

"You were unconscious when I came back from getting food that day. I rushed to get nurses and you went straight into surgery, but it was too late. Once the doctor had gotten to you for surgery your brain was already starting to become damaged due to the fluid pressing on it. I can't quite remember the medical term the doctor used. Can you?" Marcy's mother asked the nurse.

"Hydrocephalus." the nurse said, while checking Marcy's bandages at her head.

"Right, the doctor basically had to rush the clock to make sure he could drain the fluid before it pretty much squished your brain. Your heart rate started dropping,--"her mother moved away from the bed and took a step and then turned back around. "You were pronounced dead on the table."

"What?" Marcy said, her eyes tearing up even more.

"Suddenly though, you started fighting because your heartbeat started beating again within seconds of the doctor claiming you to be dead. You fought beautifully but you were left in a coma."

Marcy was speechless she had no idea what to say.

"What is today?"

"December the 24th it's a Tuesday."

"I've been in a coma for 3 months!"

"No Marcy this is 2013, you've been in a coma for five years.
