I stand

In the center of the sky

And I watch my

Aquaintances jump up and down

Adjacent to me,

Each reaching their highest

Point,

Only to meet their starting

Surface

And sink into the trampoline

Of life,

Crying from their broken limbs

And fingers,

But laughing as they fly back

Into mid-air.

How pitiful.

And I watch them,

My eyes turning ever so slowly.

I don't pursue

Happiness.

But only peace

Will fill my hunger.

Alas,

I might join my

Friends down there.

I cannot defy the Law

of Gravity.

And I scream and break

My limbs.

But that would be only once,

For I would stay at the bottom

While my wounds heal.

My friends scream and

Laugh.

My face freezes cold.

Should I jump

And break another limb?

I might as well.

"Come join us!"

They screech as they

Land by my side,

Rubbing their twisted ankles.

"Come join us!"

They say, stretching their

Now unusually shaped bodies

In mid-air.

And I just stare,

Breathing, healing, and living,

Watching them slowly wear

Away.

Their noses bleed, covering the

Stretchy surface below, mixing

With vomit,

Spilling over the sides.

Some of their body

Parts rip off,

Some of which I dare not say here.

One of their toes

Bounces off the sides,

Getting itself clamped in

Between the springs,

Where it snaps in half.

And I just stare

Until I'm seeing

Flipping hamburgers.

The day

You'll suffer the greatest

Shall be the day

After

You've flown in Heaven,

After you've glided

In Cloud Nine.

You'll hit Hell

And Cloud None.

But,

Why should I complain?

The world

Must be balanced, you know.

I just stare,

Breathing, healing, and living

Until I'm seeing

Flipping hamburgers,

Watching them

Slowly...

Wear

Away.

Wow

This is very disturbing....yet it's so true. The days I thought were the worst times of my life came right after I thought I couldn't be happier. This is very insightful, yet beautiful and disturbing at the same time. The title, although it doesn't suit your style, does match the poem's content. I love it!

liked the flow...although

Not sure what your talking about, but I rarely do on poems...so don't be hating on me. Thats why my poems are so simple in nature.

my view has always been - when you jump and reach a zenith - grab a branch...
