You wake up in a white room. Judging by the lack of color, you're in the hospital. A doctor comes into the room, checks a chart, and looks you in the eye. "What happened to me?" You asked, your voice hoarse. Her gaze never falters. "You snapped from the stress and shock in your life right now." She says simply with a kind look in her eyes. "All the shock and stress from what happened." "What happened?" You whisper with a dark, stormy look in your eyes. The doctor simply replaces the chart and leaves the room. You can't believe that after all of this, they still won't tell you what happened. It feels like everyone is in on a conspiracy against you, at this point you wouldn't really be all that surprised. Now that your little break down has passed you can think clearer. For now anyway. Oddly, you are still a little afraid to find out what happened. You know that since no one will tell you, it's got to be a ten on the horrible scale. Obviously no one believes you can take the news, which is not very comforting at all. The first step to solving this dilemma is to get away from this cold, white room. You've been informed many times by family and that doctor (whatever her name is, you don't care for her enough to know) that leaving "is not an option," right now. Since they are the enemy at the moment, their opinion will not be valued. You decide that you'll wait for the nurse to make her rounds and then make a break for it. Funny how you feel like a prisoner when you are suppose to be the victim. You don't feel like putting up with the many useless questions the nurse asks you so you pretend to be in a deep sleep. Minutes after you make that choice the nurse wanders into your room. She bumps and drops things while trying to remain silent, while you wait impatiently for her to leave, making sure your breathing stays in a melodic beat. The banging and clanging stops, and you realize she's finally gone. You jump out of the cardboard- like bed and grab the small black backpack with your things in it. Thankfully, you have some money in your bag. As you're finally about to leave, you get stopped dead in your tracks. One of your aunts, the one who loves to talk, pops in for a visit. It's too bad she's not as simple-minded as she looks. "Hey! Where do you think you're going?" You briefly ponder the idea of trying to make up a plausible explanation, but you decide it will be useless. You go over possible solutions to this hurdle, and decide the best possible way to escape is to run. You push passed a very confused aunt and take off running down the hall. You can't hear or see anyone behind you yet, and that leads you to believe that your aunt is still pretty puzzled. Nevertheless, you don't slow down your pace at all as you continue to tear down the halls of the hospital. You bump and collide into a lot of people, but you have no time to stop and apologize. It takes you about 5 minutes to get to the front doors, due to all the people you hit and stairs you had to run down. Once out of the hospital, you have to decide the next step. To get your bearings, you find a small café with a few people in it about two blocks away from the hospital. You find the furthest, most hidden table in the café, making sure the door is in clear view. A blonde waitress comes up to your table and gives you a glass of ice-cold water, when she asks if you want anything else, you nod. Now, all that's left is figuring out from this table what happened to who. Suddenly, something dawns on you. Because of the lack of communication between you and the people who brought you here, you don't even know where you are. You realize just now that you don't know anything about this city you're in, the only information you know is that it's about 16 hours from where you live. Why would you be brought so far from home? Who did this? What happened? These questions are driving you even crazier than before. The need for the answers is eating at you. It's at this moment you decide on what has to be done. You go into your bag and take out two things. The first is your phone. You dial your step-cousin's number. " Do you know who this is?" You start out. Judging by the silence on the other end he knows who it is. "Tell me what happened." You state levelly. "M-m-maybe you should come here and we'll tell you." He stutters. The dead calmness in your voice sends shivers down his spine. "You have one more chance. Tell me what happened, right now." "Just tell me where you are." He says more defiantly. Without another word you hang up the phone and turn it off. You then look toward the second item you placed on the table. Painkillers. You pick up the glass of ice-cold water and open the pill bottle. Without thinking, you down the whole bottle of pills and drain the glass of water. Then you sit and wait for the pills to take effect. In the last stages of being conscience you realize something. You haven't seen your parents or your sisters since they dropped you off at school.
