All alone in her drawing room, Charlotte heard her baby Zak crying down the hall. “Jacen could you get him? I’m almost done with this sketch” she called to her husband. “Yeah honey” Jacen said in his soft voice. Charlotte could hear him cooing Zak from his screams a few rooms down. He had been doing this a lot lately, which scared her. Jacen told her it was normal for babies to do that at this age.
She hated to hear Zak cry like that. It reminded her of when she was younger, when her parents would fight. Her dad hit her mom, and her little sister Jamie would scream in fear. It brought back those awful memories. Jacen had promised to never do that to her. Hit her, like her father used to do to her mom, until he took it too far.
One day, Charlotte’s father came home drunk, and started hitting her mom, and with the last blow, she fell to the ground. She hit her head on the table and blood spilled everywhere. Realizing what he had done too late, he went and grabbed his handgun. He told his girls to call 911, and told them he loved them, and never meant to kill their mother. He left the room and walked to the bathroom. Charlotte heard the door lock click, followed by a gunshot. She knew what happened. She screamed so loud the neighbors ran over, found Jamie and Charlotte staring at their mother’s lifeless body. They called the police and questioned Charlotte about the events.
“Baby are you okay?” Charlotte jumped, startled at hearing Jacen’s soft voice. “Uhm, yeah. I was just thinking of the last night I saw my parents, alive…” tears rolled down her face, and Jacen wrapped his big strong arms around her. She knew she was safe from harm. “Hey, shhh. It’s okay, I promise we’ll NEVER turn out like that. We saw where they went wrong. Baby it’s okay. Just cry, I’m here”. Jacen’s voice sounded trusting. “No, I want Zak”.
They both walked down the hall to his nursery. Just then he started screaming again, and Charlotte fell to the floor, swearing she could see her mother’s face. “Make it go AWAY!! Please, Jacen help me!” she screamed. “Hey Zaky, what’s wrong? Mommy and Daddy are both here. Shh” Jacen said lifting Zak from his crib. Charlotte realized how ridiculous she must have looked and got up to hold her baby.
There was no way she could ever get rid of these painfully horrifying memories. Never. She’d have to deal with these ‘til the day she died. Hopefully Zak will never go through this, Charlotte thought to herslef.

That would be very traumatising. I think this was written from a mature perspective, and handled well.
