I climbed down the stairs and into the Subway Station. As always it was crowded like a sofa during the Super Bowl. I stood around and looked for the ticket booth. Damn crowds can't see a damn thing. As soon as I spotted the ticket booth I was knocked over and a man fell on top of me. "Hey watch where the fu......" I started but when I looked at his face I instantly knew who it was. "John?" I asked even though I knew the answer. John was my high school sweetheart but we split up because I went to a college on the west coast and he went to one on the east coast. "Lilly?" He asked obviously as surprised as I was. I was still on the ground with him on top of me and I felt an intensity build up in my stomach, "Um......." was all I managed to say as I tried to stand up. Noticing my struggle he got off of me and helped me up, "What are you doing here?" he asked me and I cleared my throat, "I just moved here from California with my boyfriend" I said looking anywhere but his eyes. Ok so I never really let the love I had for John go even though I was dating someone new. "Boyfriend?" he said disappointed, "So what you?" I asked but someone interrupted, "John who is this?" a girl came up and put her arm on his shoulder and I felt a sudden anger rush through as soon as she touched him. "Diane this is Lilly" he said looking at the floor, "Hi" she said and reached out her hand. I grabbed it a faked a smile, I could tell she knew who I was from the look in her eyes; she held an anger in her eyes and selfishness as well. "Hey how you doing?" I asked and tightened my grip on her hand as she tightly gripped mine. I suppressed a wince and internally smile as she visibly winced. "We should get together sometime" he suggested and she gave him a dirty look but quickly diverted her gaze back to me and plastered that fake smile on her face. "Yeah you could meet Jason" Jason was........is my boyfriend, and he smiled happily. "I still have your cell phone number so I'll call you later ok?" he said while completely ignoring his ‘girlfriend' and we smiled at each other. "Well bye Lillian" Diane said eagerly, "Lilly" I corrected for her and she subtly tugged his arm saying, ‘come on let's go' and I mentally laughed at her. "See you" I said smiling at him and he said good-bye as his ‘girlfriend' pulled him into the crowd and disappeared. I exhaled deeply and continued grinning widely. I went over to the ticket booth and waited in line, I was very surprised to hear he still had my cell phone number. My phone started to vibrate and I felt a sudden rush. I pulled it out of my pocket and looked at caller id, "Jason" I whispered and felt slightly disappointed but I answered, "Hey, Jay" I said and he asked me if I was coming home from work yet, "Yeah I am getting a ticket for the subway right now. Be home in a hour or so" I said as the line moved up, "Okay see you then" he answered. We said our goodbyes and I got a ticket for one way to Brooklyn. "Okay your train leaves in twenty minutes enjoy your ride" the ticket lady said and I smiled and went to sit on a chair. I still feel giddy on the inside. I have not seen John in years. I stood next to the benches because they were all taken. I wondered if he still loved me. I got on the subway and quickly grabbed a seat. I had this huge smile plastered on my face as I continued thinking about John. I rested my head on the window, why is he here in New York? "What are you smiling about?" my friend, Tina, said as she sat down across from me. I shook my head and continued staring out the window and at the wall. "Come on, what did Jay do now?" she asked anxiously as she fiddled with my knee. How little did she know..............
