I don't know why, but something is drawing me away from my warm house and into the cold. I feel like something is drawing me somewhere. Right now I'm in my car, driving north and I don't know where I'm headed.

I know where I am now. I'm at Lilly Bridge, I've heard all the rumors of this place but I can't leave. I'm at the edge of the bridge looking at the green, murky water wondering why I'm here and who's making me stay. My body is giving me hints that something is coming. The hairs on the back of my neck are standing on end and my throat is so dry I can't swallow.

I feel like a sitting duck. I've been standing here for a few minutes, but they feel like hours. I still can't leave. Whatever the reason I'm here, I can tell I'll find out soon. I'm standing perfectly still, hard as a rock. I have about as much feeling as one too, other then the overwhelming sense of fear that has become me. The climax is about to begin. Suddenly I start to see things that I can't properly determine as fact or fiction. Images are flying through my mind but there are no sounds to match the pictures. My heart rate is suddenly climbing higher and higher at a steady beat that can be felt deep within my ears.

I look around desperately waiting for something to happen, my eyes are darting from left to right looking at all the shadows. I'm waiting for something to show itself, for me to know why I'm here and to get to the end of this vague attack.

Suddenly, an unworldly sound is heard. This sound is worse than nails on a chalkboard, it's tearing into my mind, my soul. The sound is coming closer and closer, which means the creature it belongs to is creeping up behind me. Now I curse my legs for not moving, and letting me escape. Then the sound abruptly stops, just as quick as it began. I am waiting to be slashed at, or dragged into the darkness. Then I hear something that surprises me a lot. Giggling, it sounds very familiar. I turn around, and about seven yards away from me stands my best friend. I recover from my deep fear quicker than I would have expected. My fear is replaced with anger, mixed with a little relief.

I walk toward my friend, getting ready to give her a piece of my mind. As I get closer, her face transforms from the familiar girl that I grew up with to a hideous creature that matches the unworldly sound I heard before. The relief was short lived, and now I am even more horrified than before, which didn't seem possible a moment ago. Now I can see what I'm up against, and I know that I will never prevail...

Then I wake up.

I sit up in my bed, sweating profusely. I can barely breathe; it feels like there's a cinder block on top of me. After a few minutes I recover slightly and decide to walk off the shock. As I'm walking through my house something catches my eye. Someone has left the lamp light on. This is strange, because I always make sure nothing is left on.  I walk up to the desk, and I see what the lamp is illuminating. It's an unfamiliar map. In the middle, marked with a blood-red arrow is a location.

....

I have a bad habit of skipping over words in a story but every word of your story kept me absorbed.

I think you could get a larger story out of this or even a prologue.Good work.
