3. Perhaps drowning. Picture yourself under black water, not knowing which way is up, and which way is down. The one certain thing is that you need to figure out which way is up, and soon. The cold water is stinging and poking at you. It has soaked through your clothes and skin, right to the bone. Your lungs are screaming for oxygen, and it becomes apparent that they won't get their craving.

Not knowing anything sends pulses of panic and fear through your veins. Finally, you can feel your mind collapsing in on itself.  You can also feel the blackness overtaking you behind your eyes. At first, you struggle against it, trying to overcome. After awhile, you let go and let the dark spell wash over you. Now the panic and fear is gone, and you vaguely know you should still be fighting it, but you don't have enough strength. Finally, the blanket of blackness fully envelops you. A somewhat peaceful end.

4. It's a dark night. Unfortunately, your car stalled. You now have to walk home all alone. Now is the time you regret declining the offer of your friend accompanying you to your house. Too late now. So far, everything is going pretty well, but you can't shake the feeling of a presence behind you. You spin around a few times when you think someone is there. The more you turn around, the sillier you feel. You make a conscience decision to stop the unnecessary action. You're paranoia isn't going to get the best of you, not yet.

There is only one obstacle that separates your from the safety of your home. A long, dark alley. There is always the option to walk around it, but that would take an extra half-hour. After debating with yourself, you decide to go down the alley. You're just being ridiculous right?

"There's nothing to be afraid of... There's nothing to be afraid of..." You keep trying to convince yourself of this, unsuccessfully. You continue to walk slowly down the alley so far, so good. You start to calm down, as the yellow glow of the streetlight gets brighter and brighter. 7 yards, 6 yards, 5 yards...

Suddenly, out of nowhere a man with a windbreaker appears. The smell of alcohol is definitely there. He murmurs a few slurred words that are impossible to comprehend and suddenly something gleaming appears in his fist. With a sense of panic you realize you know all too well what the gleaming object is: a butterfly knife. Before you can scream or run, with one quick, horrible motion the knife is suddenly deep within your body. The cold metal of the knife can be felt corrupting you deep within your gut. The assailant seems to realize his crime and instantly takes off running. You sink to your knees and struggle to breathe, every breath hurts more than the last. You feel where the weapon is and you can feel warm liquid oozing out from your midsection. For a little while, you use your draining energy to call for help, but no one comes. Finally you accept what is happening and fall limp to the cold pavement.

Paranoia is my state of mind. Always thinking where I am most vulnerable, how easily I can be killed.

Fact of the matter is that I want a concealed carry license. Drunkard tries to stab me it's two in the chest and one in the head.

I used to be like that. I find that paranoia is the hardest thing to escape.

Good.

Now drowning is definitely scary. I've almost drowned... hmm, let's see... 1, 2, 3... 4, yes 4 times. Each time was horrifying. I was so scared; I could of sworn on 3 out of those 4 that I was going to die. I'm feeling uneasy reminiscing... so, enough of that.

Walking in, what seems, a desolate area while it's dark is also pretty nerve-wrecking. Good job on emphasizing the paranoia. A stabbing is also definitely not a good 'way to go.'

I also think that the way you've walked us through each death experience is good, but could be better. An excellent description of things is what you should be concentrating on achieving in a piece like this one; so I'll suggest just a little more 'effort.' Though I did notice improvement from the previous entry.

Now on to the next one...

I think I'd run through the alley. Once I saw it, I'd just run. My adrenaline would have been so pumped by then, that my next decision would be to just run. As well as drowning, I've had my chances with that, being a scuba diver...I think you're next story so be a guide how to survive these things.
