She Loved Him

Of course it was him.  It had to be him.  Why make her life easy?  It was much better to fall for the man who didn't care for her.  Oh he claimed he did, but she knew better.  She loved him, would do anything for him.

Why, oh why couldn't she love someone else?  There were several suitors in her life.  She knew that she needed to make a choice.  She chose him.  Chose him over everyone else.  She loved him, would do anything for him.

Her self-esteem was in a rut.  She had none.  People told her that she was smart, pretty, funny, but yet, it wasn't what she wanted.  She wanted him to love her.  She wanted the importance of being in his life.  She loved him, would do anything for him.

But it wasn't his nature.  She would never be first, never be more important than other things in his life.  He claimed that he cared for her, claimed he loved her.  But he didn't show her.  She loved him, would do anything for him.

He made her sad, she had planned for the event.  Planned it for a long time and went through a lot of effort.  He wasn't going to show, something was more important.  It always was, she wasn't.  Her self esteem fell further and further.  She wanted him, chose him exclusively over everyone else.  She loved him, would do anything for him.

Tears came as they always did for her.  Many tears that were spilled on his behalf.  Did he know?  Should he know?  Should so many tears be shed?  He made her sad.  But he would come look at her and all would be forgiven.  Why did she have to fall for someone who didn't care for her?  She loved him, would do anything for him.

She worked hard for him.  Did whatever he asked.  Never got mad.  Never demanded anything from him.  He walked all over her.  Why couldn't she fight back, tell him how she felt?  She loved him, would do anything for him.

She wanted to be important, wanted him to love her as she loved him.  Did what he asked so he could see that she loved him.  But in return, there was only sadness.  She wasn't important, she never was.  All he gave her were scraps of love and tears.  She loved him, would do anything for him.

She couldn't take it, couldn't take the sadness anymore.  But she knew; she knew she couldn't live without him.  She loved him, she just wanted to be important.  She couldn't tell him how she felt.  It wasn't in her nature.  He wouldn't listen, she wasn't important.  His life would be fine without her.  Hers wouldn't.  She loved him, would do anything for him.

The sadness overcame her.  She didn't know what to do.  His life wouldn't change.  She looked down at her wrists and watched the blood drain from them.  She couldn't live without him.  She loved him, would do anything for him.

Her funeral came.  It wasn't important, she never was.  But she was.  He stood over her grave and cried the tears that he had.  He didn't know.  Didn't know how much he loved her.  Now she was gone and he was alone.  He should have shown her.  Shown her how important she was.  The other things in life looked less important now.  He should have shown her.  He should have shown her that he loved her, would do anything for her.  After all, she loved him, would do anything for him.

Very sad. You should always take the time to tell those you love exactly how you feel. There is nothing in life more important.

This was supposed to go under poetry, but they changed it to romance...whatever. I mean I know it's not strict poetry!

I think I need to go hug my wife now, and what's this watery discharge from my eye's. Whose cutting up those onions damn it! Beautifully written. What a shame it only stayed on the front page all but a hour or two. Sad if that other people might miss it. High marks.

Really beautiful and nicely written. But I believe that love and dependence are two separate things. Which one is this?

Ok,,we get the picture...she loved him. Just one question...WHY!!! Also, why did you kill yourself? You claim it was because you couldn't live without him...well it reads that he never left you to begin with. Not sure about this one. Should of realized by line 5 that it never was gonna love you or that it would have worked. JUST LEAVE.

You know, I'm not the author, but I feel the need to put my two cents in on your cynacism. Why do you think theat there are women here in the US that get regularly beaten by their husbands or boyfriends? Why don't they just leave? It's because they can't get out. Furthermore, you don't know any more about this woman's background than what is given, which is nothing. There is no reason to know about the circumstances, just that she feels unloved and loves him very much. What I got out of this is that he did love her, just didn't know how to show her. And her sadness is that she loves him so much that she would do anything for him, but she doesn't know how he feels. Her suicide is based on the fact that she knows that she is unhappy, but doesn't know how to and probably doesn't want to get out I can relate to this girl's feelings. I think that this piece was written as a sort of wake up call to remind all of us to make sure we tell our loved ones everyday how we feel about them

Wow lorislittlesecret, you practically sum up any remaining comments. As well for that, the story was great, and it definitely was a wake up call to a lot of people. It does make me realize not to take things for granted.

One of the effects I didn't realize till the end was the repetition of the line, "She loved him, would do anything for him." I actually didn't see that being repeated until the last line when I reviewed the story...Maybe I'm just not watchful.

Lori thanks for having my back on this. Yes, whether or not you like the subject matter is nothing to criticize. The writing style or grammer is. Furthermore, Mr. Critic, have you ever been in the position that you love someone so much you can't live without them? Apparently not. There is such a thing as unconditional love.

And kisses to the Egoist for understanding that this is a wake up call. As for the ending line to each paragraph...yeah it is kind of a loose poem. I suck at poetry, this is as close as I get! Just needed to pound in the fact that she was willing to do anything for this man, even die for his love.

May be silly to some, but for those of us who truly have something to love and hold on to...not so silly
