Wisdom Is For The Birds

The parakeet gazed longingly out the open window from...

Cast aside your filthy pride
And shut your shifty eyes

Turn away your smug looks
And toss your dirty books

Keep own hand to one's self
And one's self to your own

You are no one
You are a clone

Truth is traumatic
Lies dimplomatic

Junk is treasure
Wrongs can pleasure

All systematic
Most problematic

Keep own hand to one's self
And one's self to your own

I am Woman, hear me roar
Come see me bleed
I am Woman, hear me roar
And let me be

Open up your eyes

Close your mouth

You use complaints

To gather attention

Among this world

Of loneliness.

Perfection does

Not exist.

To wish for it

Is the one-way ticket

To the horrors

That you attempted to run away from.

If your wish is for

A perfect man,

Sure, you can tie his arms to himself.

But, for fair game,

Let him sew your mouth shut

Before you do so.

Then, you'd be in equal grounds

Together

Forever.

Thank you.

Good poem. I already knew it was going to have to do with, "My eyes are up here."

Did I know what I was trying to say?

Yes, I knew exactly what it was saying.
