It was a different sight

To see the first go off with such might

It changed my mind about my death

I believed it was going to come sooner behind each breath

The first cloud to form struck over the mountains

Though we were miles away, it felt like cannons

They said a second one is soon to happen

And yet we still take no action

We have all lost hope

There is no way we are able to cope

Because this is how it ends

With what we choose not to defend

The bombs greet our heads

As we truly lay in our deathbeds

We have no where to go

Just let the sky glow

It shall provide us with our last vision

As the world has already begun to become broken

This twilight sky

Provides us with everything as we die

Its colors became so real

Looking like thousands of jewels

Just stay held onto me

This sky will make us free

Thoughts

Thanks for the comments. I was thinking of two things when I wrote this. The first one was of Japan, and how they were struck twice. The reference of 'mountains' in line 5 could make that seem a bit clearer considering Japan to really have no flat areas. The other, wasn't so much as a thought but I was listening to Nine Inch Nails' "In This Twilight" which hints towards the atom bomb.

nine inch nails

yes nine inch nails is personally my favorite band. When you read this you can think of the song because the chemistry of the two are just amazing. I love this poem. "This twilight sky provides us with everything as we die"

That line is simply genius.

This poem is just a great piece to read again and again.

Pretty good.

Though I must admit that the atomic bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki didn't come to mind, some type of war zone did.

... Well, actually, now that I reread it, those events do come to mind...

Did you mean to transmit some sort of message though?

....

I don't know if I meant to transmit some sort of message, though I do believe the world will probably end with nuclear warfare...It scares the Hell out of me knowing that we have those things stored like a car lot. Thank you.
