I believe they’ve made it clear

To make every wish seem near

As though all the opportunities

Are truly every ability

Day by day they come in and out

And it never seems to be of doubt

That none of them are too farfetched

That none of them will ever be stretched

They should all come true

This is how we all expect it due

None of them will be over looked

Why do we still get hooked?

Near birthday’s time

Candles bring one’s chime

And in the dark night sky

A shooting star is what we never deny

Wind, help me blow this flower away

This dandelion’s thistles were not meant to stay

My eyes will keep me awake to see the clock

Because at 11:11 my mind should start to talk

The bird’s bones bring me pleasure

The wishbone shall be my answer

Our fingers squeeze together

So my eyelash becomes much calmer

I don’t understand

Have they all been banned?

All these wishes I’ve ever made

Were they never displayed?

I only wait till they remiss

I never expected this

Even the ones I have replayed

Will only seem to fade

Nice reference to all the wish superstitions. On your first line tho ' I believe they've made it clear' ...who are 'they'? They need to wake up and face reality.

Hey, thanks for all these comments I've been receiving from you lately. I'm grateful. Uh, as well as who "they" are, I guess I'm not completely sure myself. When I mentioned "they" I guess I chose people in general, or more like people who are superstitious.

not all

wishes are meant to be delivered, sometimes you have to seek them yourself.

a wish is merely a hope and desire for something - not a gift catalog with fedex delivery.

nice placement of words though!

write on!

Thanks for the idea. That's quite helpful. I guess from only seeing miracles come true to so many different people in so many areas, it would make me feel as though they singled me, or rather the average man out.

i agree

wow tarhead i am amazed with your opinion sometimes you have to seek them yourself. i've never thought that before. although i think sometimes people would rather wish for them rather than trying to achieve them on thier own.

Nice.

I definitely caught on to some of today's most common 'how to make your wish come true' superstitions in your poem, and it was fun to recall each one in my head.

I do remember that when I would crush on a boy I would take a flower and pluck out its petals, 'he loves me, he loves me not...' I knew it was naive of me to invest so many of my hopes in a flower, but it was nice to keep the illusion alive... it made me happy, at least for a few moments...

This was nice :).

"It made me happy, at least for a few moments," I know I should be feeling bad for you, but I could only picture your expression, and chuckle a bit, sorry. That's true though, I didn't even think of the flower, that would have been a great one. Thanks for the comment, as always.

Ha!

I actually wrote that to reveal the reason people "believe" in superstitious wishing... it's a sort of 'instant gratification' for them... a momentary happiness...

But I guess I did sound pretty silly. Ha!
