She
waited impatiently before the glowing screen for the pages to load. This was
the moment she could steal away and be happy, the best part of her day. She
knew there were messages from him. Her happiness turned sour as she opened the
first of his thoughts. Her heart sank, tears formed. She couldn't read his
words through her blurry wet eyes; she didn't need to it hurt just the same.
Her stomach turned. Her heart ached.
He loved her, which was clear; he just wasn't able to
be a part of the tragic drama better known as her life. A tragedy which has
caused him much pain before. His love for her had pushed him through the
heartache in the past. This time it wasn't enough. It isn't fair to him, she
knew. She was being selfish and deserves the pain.
It wasn't supposed to be like this. It began
innocently enough, as a way to be happy in an crazy miserable world. Over time
it became much much more. A connection not expected, however cherished. It was
now clear to her that is was to no longer be.
His words exposed his feelings and ripped her apart:

All she could do was respect his wishes;
All she could do was be grateful for all they had shared;
All she could do was cry;
All she could do was be sorry;
All she could do was own the pain;
